You were on and off so often when I was talking to you last night that I didn't know whether to say goodbye or hello. The RC has some noted problems, so if you're using that, try going back to the regular viewer. How's your connection speed and computer specs? Maybe there's a problem there.

What sort of connection are you using?

Here's a question. I crash invariably after the screen goes into prism mode - and I am getting lots of out of memory warnings. I'm assuming this is the graphics card being wrong in some way (perhaps the drivers?) - do the rest of you just have normal crashes?

SL is so hit and miss on peoples systems. My system *never* crashes. I crash using RC0 quite often though.
One day i read in the forums that it is not the system so much as it is the software installed on the system. I got my Desktop about 3 months ago and have only inztalled: SL, MS Office 2003, Photoshop 7, Yahoo IM, and a Bandwidth Meter. SL has never been a serious crash machine for me except back in 03/04. I know there are some particular actions that can cause a crash and are repeatable since 2004. I am amazed at how many people crash in SL for no apparent reason. It is worth it to me to have a machine that I leave as virginal as possible for SL. Hopefully murphy's law will not kick in and i start having crash fever after posting this. ![]() _____________________

When I first cam in a couple years ago- I crashed constantly - i mean in and out poof - my problem was mostly resolved with added RAM - then one of the updates fixed my vid card support issues and now once in a blue moon- though this last week I did crash twice.

I got the last mandatory update or close to that and I have crashed been very laggy but there was like around 65k online at the time few crashes this week.
I may have other problems but I seldom experiences crash on daily basis and I got tons of junk on my hard drive some I can't uninstall and have no clue what they are. Things have to be extreme awful with my crappy isp or SL for me to crash. _____________________

*nods in agreement with Brianna*
I have an Acer laptop duo with two g's of RAM. It's probably not as virginal as I would like, I have a lot of mostly SL related programs loaded on it, but I very rarely crash, and by that I mean maybe once or twice a month. I'm running wireless on DSL as well, but I'm lucky enough to be roughly two blocks from the DSL hub (I guess that's what you call it, the box on the side of the road). One thing that I do before every SL session is to close all running background task that are not vital to my game and pc. That enables me to run my internet or my paint program at the same time as running SL. But due to all the pissing and moaning about the newest RC, I'm not taking the chance of that update until it's mandatory. _____________________

This was posted on another thread: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
It is not a hundred percent cause it told me the work pc won't run LS but it does - but maybe it will help. _____________________

Using the Cool Viewer, last Sunday, I logged in sometime after 7 am SLT, and didn't log out until midnight, so was on for, what is that?
/me finger counts, 17 hours? ![]() Back when Nicholaz was regularly doing viewers, his would do that as well with no problems. ![]() My entire computer did crash sometime last week , but I can't remember crashing from the better viewers as many as a dozen times in the past year. The Linden RC viewer will crash in minutes however, but it is designed to as they point out--in order to find and fix them. (How Nicholaz fixed them without doing that, in just a weekend too... LOL)_____________________

I know there are some particular actions that can cause a crash and are repeatable since 2004. I've been known to crash trying to take a picture. It isn't really that that kills me, it is that I get an odd screen after the picture. All the toolbar options are gone (top bottom). I can't see chat, can't see any huds, etc. Put I'm still there and can move. And chat, or at least type and press return. Whether anything is being transferred is a question in my mind. So I have to log off and on. Also crash completely trying to take a picture without that intermediate stage. Can crash when camming around. System hiccups then freezes, then crash. _____________________
