Ok, looked in Search and most of the script issues dealt w/ Homesteads, Open sims, or class 4 server full sims soooo posting here.

We have 2 full class 5 sims and one Homestead sim class 5. Right now we are averaging 5000 active scripts running w/ no one on them on one sim alone. We have residents and being surf sims, they have boards on display as well as normal scripted items like furniture.

My question is...if I use Disable scripts in the Estate tools, is that gonna fry any scripts? I have heard it does and I've heard it doesn't. From your experience, what has happened? We have 39 rentals and I don't wanna kill anyone's object b/c I disabled scripts sim wide to reduce lag but 5000 w/ no one on the sim is asinine and is creating lag we can do w/out.

I've also heard there is an object that will keep avs who are scripted out the whazoo from tp'ing in and bringing a sim to mudville unless they strip down. Not sure if this is true tho.

Thanks!

Sidestepping the actual question: what kind of lag are you actually experiencing?

Ie:
* if things are slow to rez then disabling scripts isn't going to do anything
* if you have dozens of scripted physical pets wandering around the sim and causing crazy amounts of collisions then simply getting rid of those will probably be all that's needed
* etc

(Assuming that's 5000 scripts on one of the full sims rather than on the homestead)

They mentioned surf boards and surfing. Do those items have the same collusion problems as physical pets?

The lag is more like pockets...or just overall laggy. Things rezz ok but just feels like moving in mud if that makes sense? The boards would cause collisions if hit but they are up in houses an on the shores and not in the water. Usually in racks.

Probably not since they should be stationary if noone's using them?

View / Statistics and expanding Time (ms) should help in finding a cause though. If the sim is spending an "abnormal" amount of time dealing with physics for instance then looking at the "Top Colliders" and/or (scripted) physical objects might be a good idea.

You will not brake things but nothing will work anymore when you disable scripts.
People can't pay your tierboxes, open the sliding door of a house, use an animation or pose ball, use a surfboard, ..., ....

So it isn't a good idea to do.

surf boards should not be to bad, but surf waves are designed to do one thing and one thing only and that is to colide and push with anything physical so yes the waves will create physical lag if there are a lot of them.

turning off scripts will stop these waves and everything scripted from working untill scripts are turned back on, it will not break anything however, it just freezes the scripts.

if the lag is like moving trough mud then it is not scripts that is the problem, rather the collisions, maybe from waves or pets, maybe someone left a toy out that moves about and bumbs into things.
