I saw this problem mentioned months ago and a friend now has it. At any given time his avatar turns black. Only clothes and his hair show and no face at all. Sometimes just his lower body turns black. Was there ever a solution?

Sometimes just his lower body turns black. Was there ever a solution? I get the Invisible avatar thing where only prims show. Is that what is happening here? Lots of rebakes cure it on me. There is also the Dual Monitor thing where the skin looks black. May we have some more data?

Happened to me last night with a memory error message- i had alot of mem intensive stuff open @ same time- maybe he is having memory problems? I then immediately crashed. Once I shut the extras downs I was able to return with no problems.

I ask because I used to have the same problem when I had my old puter with the below-spec graphics card. It didn't happen all the time and not with every av. It was usually after I'd been on for some time. Since getting a new puter in May 08 I haven't had any problems of that sort. |

do you run dual monitors? if so, try moving the client to the other monitor and rebake ... don't ask me why, but my old system did this. Now i'm on a new PC w/ a 8800GTX video card and things are ok between either monitor.

I'm not sure exactly how you determine that an avatar has "turned black" on SL, but for an interesting lecture series (historical customs and law, and genetics) look up "Study Of Racialism" under Education in the Events calendar. I think it's on Wednesdays. |
