If you're not a premium member, I don't think they do get deleted.

It will remain active for as long as you want it to. They don't delete basic accounts for inactivity.

Don't be surprised if you come back and find odd tattoos on your body and contraband in your inventory because your avatar was out having a blast while you were gone.

ya i think you have to pay for the luxury of your account being suspended or deleted..
omg i am sorry but i still find it silly that if people pay a monthly and are late they cannot access their accounts while everyone else not paying premium is free to come and go as they please. No matter how much they spend they cannot miss that 9.95 payment each month or its ![]() _____________________

And if you are a premium member, you can change your membership status to basic if you can no longer pay. As others have said, basic accounts are not deleted. If you own mainland property, however, going to basic membership wil be a problem as basic member may not own mainland. Other than that, everything else--inventory, group memberships, friends lists--stay the same if you switch to basic.

Don't believe Ann. If you don't log in periodically your avatar is put into work in the prim mines below ANWR. Work conditions are horrible, and the level of RGB radiation is well over the legal maximum for fully articulated avatars. I've seen avatars come out of the mines with their hair and ears simply missing, skin burned to a featureless grey, even twisted into strange shapes or reduced to pale glowing clouds.

Other than that, everything else--inventory, group memberships, friends lists--stay the same if you switch to basic. A friend of mine thought she canceled her premium account and then got hit with the $22.50 quarterly premium renewal. Seems she forgot to ditch her 512 on the mainland. So you have to not have any land and tier down before you drop to basic. |

Yes, actually I must've signed up for premium when I joined - paying yearly. Once/year it would tell me to renew. I'd try to cancel and it was harder than pulling my own teeth. In between renewal dates/email notices I tended to forget about it altogether.
This is why I have a two year old rez date, though I only began playing recently! I finally just gave up, gave in and played. I also had thought, well I paid for this name I better use it...Wish I hadn't, now. (The rez day) causes lots of confusion and "Don't you know this by now?" text. Lol So long story shorter I have an old rez date but still feel a lot like a newbie a lot of the time...all cos of ordering premium. =) By now I've bought too much to jettison the av anyway. The explanation just gets embarrassing at times and the "uh huh sure" bugs me. Oh well. |

So making a long story short.
having a premium membership doesn't give you more rights. It actually gives you a major disadvantage? O.o _____________________

Lol it can, if you do it before you really understand how to play SL. I paid 2 yrs without playing, effectively...
I kinda wish newbies were rezzed with $100L spending money, although that would probably just tempt a lot of others to invent things to steal it from them. |

Nah, they'd just write a program to automatically create new accounts and transfer the money to their main. That's why they got rid of the basic stipend when they quit requiring payment information. Ah, yeh, duh on me. Of course... Maybe then a note card explaining the basics in simple language then...Most people who just rezzed seem to be totally lost. And automatically put more stuff in their inv to change into, maybe. They're not gonna know how to get around to shops or even to open the freebie boxes on some welcome sims. /shrug just an idea |

It might be nice to give newbies just one or two free uploads so at least they can get a profile pic up. |

sl accounts
01-12-2009 05:11
when i first played around on sl in 2006 and sorted a basic account with a cool male avi, I didn't try to access it again for over 2 years and now he doesn't exist............so I would say there must be some kind of inactivity time limit before accounts get deleted.............
