Yesterday I puchased land in a SIM named GRANT. I had been looking at the land for several days and everything seemed quite good (Time Dilation & Region FPS) each time I visited the SIM. There didn't seem to be any noticable lag and my avitar was able to move around quite normally. TIME DILATION was always close to 1.0 & SIM FPS was always close to 45 with only a few avatars in the SIM.
Things were going good until yesterday evening when it seemed like my avatar was moving through jello. I looked at the statistics and TIME DILATION was .31 and less, SIM FPS was between 14 & 16. There was 1 other avatar in the SIM.
In thinking about why performance had dropped so drastically, I remembered that I had rez'd a building that used HUGE PRIMS but had deleted it almost immediately. One question is "Could that have been the cause of the hit to performance?". This morning performance is back to what I had orinally observed when I bought the land.
I'm hesitant to try and rez the building again to see if performance goes back down the drain. I would appreciate any advice I can get from the folks who have analyzed the hits that HUGE prims cause to performance. It seems to me from what I've been able to read, the mix is about 50/50 on the pros/cons of using HUGE prims.
All constructive comments will be appreciated.

it could have been an SL glitch.
is there a club in your sim, and they were having a party last night?
i would try again before thinking it was jsut your sim. it may have been all of SL. that scenerio happened all last week, and the weekend ... to a lot of people.

Yesterday I had a situation where I logged off and then back on about an hour later. When I logged off the sim was fine, but when I came back the time dilation was fluctuating around 0.50 and below. I don't recall the sim FPS. I contacted live help and Linden came to reset the sim. That didn't help. The Linden then found a physical object causing excessive collisions and deleted it (the other day there was an attack).
Maybe your sim had the same problem and a Linden fixed it?

Check in the stats bar under the Time section to see if you can spot which part of the sim code is eating more time than usual.

Huge prims, of the size that might be used in constructing a house, generally don't cause the kinds of problems you described. Especially not after they are deleted.
Seems like I read somewhere that there are two sims on each server, so something happening in a sim that shares a server with your sim could lag them both down.

From: ArchTx Edo <snip> Seems like I read somewhere that there are two sims on each server, so something happening in a sim that shares a server with your sim could lag them both down. 4 normal sims per server (1 per cpu) 16 void sims per server (4 per cpu)

There are/have been quite a few giant prims on the sim (Rizzo) where my shop is and I don't ever remember any significant lag there.

This was happening to me on and off yesterday too, which suggests it might have been a wide-spread problem, rather than something wrong with your specific sim. LL had reported network problems earlier.

Pruetti is suffering from instability as well. For over a week now. Sent in support ticket, but so far nothing. This happened once before, and the in world team was prompt and efficient. (Turned out to be a bad script in a sign).
At present I would expect the in world team is up to their butts in alligators from the sound of things.
