Im busy on a website project that will list different places.

Now I'm wondering can I link and display pictures obtained from Second Life search? All the places displayed in my website will be opt in of course.

For instance the picture of my own place is this: http://secondlife.com/app/image/35d8cdb5-3c2c-4b63-74c6-9f42f2330f62/1

and the place is there: http://world.secondlife.com/place/ea41b816-0584-2b4b-1869-4f4a2a0d4ee6

Sorry for the advertising it's to explain my concern.

Is it alright to use these kind of contents on my website (from me and other places opted in)?

TIA,
Twisted

this link should give you all the info you need

http://secondlife.com/corporate/trademark/

(it explains what can and can not be used and how the things that can be used, are able to be used)

The creators own the content and the use of what they create. If they want to use what you created somewhere else LL have no control over it. If you display someone else's content without their permission you get into copyright issues.
So the short answer is that those that opt in you can display. Be sure your opt in agreement is specific.

and just to reinforce that, there is a script that can pull profile pictures inworld and display them on a prim, LL has removed more than one of these as content theft / 'subverting' around the permissions system... and when asked for comment responded that these images were owned by their respective creators so use must be requested before hand.

linking to the page they are on (rather than the actual image) would be acceptable though.

Ok, thanks. I take it if the prim asked permission first from the avatar it would be fine.

The places won't be listed unless the land owner signs in so I'm clear with it right?
