Land and Group Confusion

If you hear a pitiful whimpering sound it's probably coming from me I thought I had it right this time, but nope.. no such luck. I am close to bumping tier again and just can't, I have been very careful to save enough meters to buy a connecting parcel to mine so I had 5111 meters available to buy without raising my tier... (all of my land is group land 228,701 meters). A friend of mine wanted to trade some parcels straight across (for sale to each other for 0) that would make our properties shaped better. OK I hope I can articulate this, I cut him out 6176 meters and he "bought" them, he put for sale to me a 4096 and a 2048 which equals 6144 meters, I bought the 4096 and now the SL land buying tool thingie is telling me to buy the 2048 would raise my tier to 780 a mo :/ How can this be? I had 5111 available to start with and got off of 6176 meters, that adds to 11287 meters, I should be able to "buy" the other lot and still have slightly more than 5111 left over without raising my tier. What am I not doing right?

It has done that to me before as well.

I went ahead with the sale, then went back to the "Land Fees" page on the website and manually set my tier back to what it really should be. That solved the problem, I didn't lose any land, and didn't get charged any additional tier.

If your math is correct (it looks like it is,) and you know you're still in the correct tier setting, you'll be fine.

are you 'buying for group'? if not, why?
have you double checked all your group tier contributions for hidden tier?

if you have tier contributed to more than one group you can safely pull your tier out of group A, donate it to group B, then 'buy for group B'. once the land is in the group you can then start reassigning your tier to group A.

in any case i do NOT suggest assuming everything is cool and bumping yourself up in tier safe in the belief that you will somehow not be charged for it.

It happened to me when I sold land to myself . I did what Eben did and it worked.
