My neighbour and friend was having phone line problems and has not been able to log on since October 22. Today I noticed that he has disappearred out of people search and is no longer showing as a member of any of his groups. However, click on his land and he still owns it and is still showing as a member of the groups he doesnt appear in, etc.
If you leave the game how long does it take for your profile to disappear?

I've gone at least 3 months w/o so much as checking my account page, or logging in... everything was still there when I came back... but it could be because it's a paid account... I think the official limits is 3 months for free acounts before they will delete inventory, and a few more before the account goes....
a couple of weeks doesn't sound right, unless they've changed things, and the land should revert if that happened (unless it's private island land, that may work differently)

Do you mean someone who leaves SL by closing their resident account or someone who just is having trouble getting online? My RL cousin has had problems with his phone connection in the past. What helped him was contacting Quest and paying the fee to have his lines checked. Turned out there was a problem out at the street box and the service guy just moved his house line to another junction. Is SL the only thing online that he/she can't logon to? As to how long a Profile stays available, I've assumed that a Profile only disappears if an account is closed or it's a glitch. A phone call to Linden Labs might be in order if the problem still exists and your friend has done all they can to make sure the problem isn't at their end.

He is a premium member. I don't know if he paid for three months or longer. He was emailing me every day as well as being in game. After a week of having lots of trouble with his lines he stopped. It is the lines in the street that are the problem. Of course I am veering between being angry that he hasn't got his bum to an internet cafe to let me know he is fine and being worried sick that he is ill or dead. His tier was due and must have been paid on Oct 29.
Interesting about the free account non usage. I have an alt for when I want to be on incognito or test stuff I make which isnt often as I usally have a guinea pig friend around lol. I must remember to log her in once a month or so.

But the profile has disappeared from search. I can only see it if i click on his land and then click info. The person who checked that it wasnt a me glitch also has his calling card.

The new viewer has a checkbox to show profiles in search. Perhaps he/she has checked that? Or maybe it was unchecked by dfault.
