Question about land and groups

I tried to do a search on this but the forum search feature is borked at the moment and won't give any results...

If I want only a certain role in my group to have building rights on my land, I can't just set the group of the land, the land has to be deeded to the group for that permission to take affect, right? I looked at the wiki and don't see any information on this.

Are there other options in the group roles that needs the land deeded to the group for them to work? Any info on this is appreciated, thanks!

Parcel setting like media, landing, access etc.
Terraform right.

I've never done this, so take what I say with a huge grain of salt, but

look in your group Abilities tab under Members and Roles,
then under Parcel Powers, where it says Always allow 'Create Objects'.

The description says: "Members in a Role with this Ability can create objects on a group-owned parcel, even if it's turned off in About Land > Options tab."

Maybe someone will come along who's tried that to see how it works.

ETA: Doh, I really didn't add anything useful, so consider it a bump :)

Simply saidL anything only an owner can do. Including changing settings, and search options. And be carefull... Officers can, in standard configuration, set land for sale.

The powrs you need to be carefull off giving people:

Set land for sale.
terraform
change parcel settings.
Set search setting.
change parcel. Description
return group owned or set to group obecjts.

Those are just a few that can potentionally get you in trouble.

That doesn't answer my question. I fully know about the risks. I want to know if just setting the land to the group is enough for a certain role to be able to do stuff like building etc, or do I have to deed the land to the entire group for that ability to work properly. I want to set the land to no building, but I want the group that's assigned to the land to only have one role be able to build while the other roles don't.

I've read conflicting things about this on the forums over the last couple of years and want a definitive answer on it please.

You can always experiment with it (assuming you are the sole owner of the group).

For my club, I had to deed the land to group so I could make use of group roles under the categories of "Parcel Access," "Parcel Management," and a lot of the things under "Parcel" categories. I'd assume that "Parcel Powers" works the same way- meaningless unless the land is deeded to group.

Yeah that's what I was afraid of. I also have to tie in parcel access to this to where only people in the group can actually get into the land. So it sounds like I'll need to deed it in order to do that plus assign a specific role in the group for building. Now the fun begins as this is not land I own, it's rented. So will have to have the land owner make a group for it and give me full admin rights to it so I can pull this off. Thanks! :)

Sorry, I totally missed this. This confirms it. It says group-owned parcel. So yep, have to deed it to the group. Thanks!
