3 Questions for some smart person out there!

This is a 3 part question..ok, ready? First of all..I logged in today to put all the outfits I created in their boxes so I could sell them, well the pants, shirts, socks..items like that were there. Any prim objects, such as skirts were totally missing from my inventory. Like, vanished, POOF! Now, thats a HELLUVA lot of work, hours of work, just gone. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can do, I searched the whole inventory, so they arent just hiding somewhere. Are they lost forever? Or will they mysteriously appear tomorrow. I'd rather be a noob for an entire day, than have to remake 20 outfits again.
2nd question. Since this update, I keep getting a SmartHeap Library error when i log off..says MEM_BAD_POINTER..what the crap is that? Also, everytime i try to log on, it makes me redownload 1.20..is there anyway around that every single time?
3rd question..this is an old problem, but I never did find out the answer. When i make my skirts, etc..i always have to make them copy/mod/no trans, because Im unable to click trans and no copy. If copy is unclicked, the trans button is greyed out..am I just a tard, or is there another way to do this?

For #1.. Try going to Edit>>preferences>>choose the Network tab and push clear cache then log out (when log ins are fixed) and log back in. If that doesnt bring them back then they are likely gone. Right now my inventory is not fully loading with the issues so if this just happened it could be that.

#2 I get that same error everytime I log out of 1.20 RC (the new viewer with the lighter colors in the gui, etc. So it is not just you. No clue what it means though.

#3 if you make an item no copy it automaticaly goes to transfer. SL gives you the choice to make your item copyable without transfer or transfer without copy. That is so your buyer can pass it along I guess when they wish to.



Oh and I don't claim smartness by answering.

You might find it better to use the regular client instead of the release candidate client.

/me chuckles..well you knew more than me! Hmm well, Im glad Im not the only one getting that error, I thot my son downloaded some more porn and gave me another PC STD..sighs..anyway..so by just unchecking copy, it automatically becomes transfer? Is that what you mean?
Well, I'll check out your suggestion tomorrow bout the cache..even tho I always clear cache..and yes, the problem just started today, Ive never lost anything in the years Ive been here, so I guess Im lucky.

When you build NEVER use the newest client ever you'll get screwed on your builds most time.. you can still use the ONLY client LL has made that works.. the rest is just simply crap no matter how LL spins it with bright and shiny pharses

the best client I have seen to build with is 1.18.5 you can still use it you just have to add the -channel command to the shortcut.

and always save a copy of your work before your start boxing it up.. LL will never help you if it gets lost I know many builders/creators that have been screwed by this.

YW. I wish I had 100L for each fit I threw when my inv. kept getting eaten by the asset server about a year back. I lost some great stuff and lots of my own builds. So I have thrown those fits before lol.

Great advice. I send a copy to my wife and to my alt now since last year. Always one around that way.

Yummy - I know of content creators who will send a full perms version to their alt for safekeeping in case something goes wonky with their own inventory. Sounds like a good idea since SL is so unstable these days.

I hope your items all come back once SL is settled down again... I've lost inventory before and I know it's very frustrating, but it must be 10 times worse when those are items you've created. Money is just money, I can always buy replacements, but creating is a real labour of love, and hard to do all over again.

You're very right..it's so frustrating that right now, I dont even want to look at photoshop, SL, or anything to do with creating or thinking..maybe i'll veg out and watch Dane Cook for awhile..lol

Yummy, here's an inventory tip the Lindens sometimes pass along: After you've cleared your cache, relog into a low-lag sim, such as Cyclops. Then open your inventory and search. While it loads, don't do anything: no IMing, etc. If the loading stalls, change your search term.

I'd wait until the current problems are resolved in SL before trying this. Unfortunately, that may be a long wait. But there has been a huge increase in people reporting inventory loss during the past two weeks of "database unpleasantness."

I hope you get it all back. I know this can be frustrating.

another client shortcut parameter: 'channel'. use 'channel' in the shortcut and name your client something so it isnt locked out. if your name has a space in it somewhere, do not forget to include it in quotes.
example:
G:\SecondLife\1.18.0.5\secondlife.exe -channel "nina's client" -set SystemLanguage en-us -multiple
