the Electric Sheep Company released their own seprate OnRez viewer a month or so ago, is it possible, that companys like PONTIAC, Nissan or any other RL company based in SL, whom ESC helped establish a foot hold in SL, start their own versions of the SL clients?

Of course it's possible.
I don't know exactly why a car company would want an SL viewer. It's not likely one would sell a real world new car from within SL.
A SLExhange viewer might make more sense. Something connected with inworld activity of some sort.
A custom viewer for a role playing group, that might be worthwhile.
A custom viewer that adds features that don't depend on LL servers, such as having a field in your profile where you can put in an music url and play it in through SL music player, maybe a place to store email addresses for your friends that lets you email them.

Have you used the OnRez viewer? If so, what is your opinion of it?
