question about group land

I had a person leave my land group yesterday by mistake and had one of hte other officers invite them back in my concern is

when they left there tier they had donated left with them if i had not been looking at the land tab on the group today i would not have notice this

there in bold letters were the words
members must donate more blalblabla

would/should i have gotten a mesage as owner of the group that there was not enougt tier to cover the groups land and would i have lost the whole sim over a few hundred meters of donated tier missing

I was under the impression donated tier stayed even if you left, so that would mean they did it on purpose...

If that was the case if they left and there tier sayed they would never have a way to get it out uif not invited back into the group I think

Thats why group land is sometimes cautioned against for multiple people, because if there isnt the trust needed, then someone could kick you and basically steal your land.. maybe not tier tho dunno

Leaving the group entirely SHOULD take contributed tier with it.

However, that means that the remaining contributing members need to ante up more tier. I don't know if that means LL would bill them all accordingly, or if they would forfeit the existing land. Methinks LL would bill them accordingly.

Donated tier leaves when the person leaves. There is no automated way of informing the Group owners.

According to LL's documentation*, within 72 hours of a deficit in contributions, the owner is notified and they must come up with more contributions or face group land being forfeited.

You are correct here, of course. If you leave a group, your tier donation leaves with you. At least that has been my experience.

As to your question, no, you get no notification at all if your group tier donations drop below the required level. At least not until you get a message from a Linden telling you that you need to donate more tier or shortly lose some of your land. That, too, has been my experience.

So, if you have more than one person donating tier, then you need to watch the donation level at least daily. And be very careful about handling land sales or transfers in or out of the group.

You don't get any message about it, and the person leaving the group has no idea they just put you in a bad spot.

You get 72 hours before a Linden would contact you about it (that's the theory, but I don't actually know of anyone who ran into the situation recently to know what actually happens) and if you then still don't fix things, the land is reclaimed.

I do know one case where a group was left with insufficient tier for a whole two weeks though before anyone caught on that there wasn't enough tier so it might not even be automated on the Linden's end either.

I was contacted by a Linden about 24 hours after the shortage occurred. But that was about 8 months ago so no idea how it is working today.

I have up to 5000 meters in tier I can let you borrow for a few days until you get this sorted out... Would have sent this to you as a private message but you have that option turned off.

I wonder, does a message from a Linden still get through if your IM's are capped?

Besides Estate land, thats the only other thing I can think of that you can actually let someone else possess but yet take it away at any moment.

You always get an e-mail from an offline IM, even if they're capped in-world.

Thankfully I have a reputation to uphold...and some ethics.

One thing I have noticed is I receive the IM in email but it does not always appear as a IM when I get back online. So if I did not receive the email, I would never know I got the IM. I would say this happens to about 15-20% of all my offline messages.
