PayPal Spammer Scammers are at it again... I got this email on both of my PayPal accounts (with different email addresses) Make sure to never reply or click the links to this crap especially w/o contacting PayPal to make sure it is safe, also remember if it is a legit email it will ALWAYS have your account name not "Dear member" Please Update Your Account Dear valued PayPal member: It has come to out attention that your PayPal account information needs to be updated as . part of .our continuing. commitment to protect .your account and to reduce the instance of .fraud on our website. If you .could please take 5-10 minutes out of your online experience and update your personal records you will not run into any future problems with the online services. However, failure to update your records will result in account suspension. Please update your records on or before September 26, 2007. Once you have updated. your account records, your PayPal session will not be interrupted and will continue as normal. Thanks for the notice. It's wonderful that someone is thoughtful enough to recycle old spam scams and try to catch a few noobs off guard. Next we'll be seeing recycled, "Help me get my zillion dollars out of [add your favorite small 2nd/3rd world country here]."

Sounds like an amateur. I got two of these notices, and I don't even have a Paypal account, nor ever even logged on to their website.

I get these all the time, there's ususally some in the Gmail spam folder, a few such messages amidst hundreds of Viagra and enlargement messages. There's an email address at paypal you can forward these messages to, but if you use Gmail the act of forwarding a message seems to make Gmail think it's not spam in your eyes.

Best thing to do is forward these directly to Paypal. Email is: [email]spoof@paypal.com[/email] They want to hear about these and will send you a nice email back thanking you for your time, and letting you know that indeed, these were fake emails phishing for your personal info.

You don't want to know how many of these, and the Ebay variety too, I get....I automatically forward these to [email]spoof@paypal.com[/email] or the same @ebay.com....
