Is this new?

And how does it work? If I select Audio for Media Type will it compete with the Media URL down below? Going to run some tests now but just wondered how long it's been around...

[Edit: Audio doesn't seem to be working.. can anyone else get that part to work?]

Generally it should detect the media type for you. This was introduced when they allowed you to replace a texture with a webpage.

I haven't played with this in a while; back when it first came out (right: coincident with the webpage support), I wrote a little "media controller" that did video and web.

Playing with it again now just in the Media tab, I found that setting an "Audio" Media Type and corresponding URL would give a "none/none" qualifier at first, and the media play button stayed grey. But if I then set it to No Content, and then back to Audio, the qualifier was "audio/*" and the music would play when the media play button was pressed. YMMV.

This could be worth fiddling with because at least the video part of the Media script command allows different agents to see different video streams on the same parcel; that would be a nice feature of a "radio" that used the same Media commands, instead of the Parcel Music URL.

Here's a link that plays a midi file with the media type set to audio on my parcel and system: http://vancouver-webpages.com/plugins/example4.mid .
