Hi Second Lifers, Just a quick question: I was wandering around in a region in SL and in a moment a window appeared saying that I was not authorized to be in this land, and I was automatically removed from that land...What does that mean? Thanks

This happens when people protect their land from intruders using security orbs and the like. Not all regions in SL permit the use of these devices or regular access lists. Where i live in Otherland for example we have a large group of private sims with an aggressive "no-ban-line" policy. Means you can explore to your hearts content without breaking your nose. Naturally, residents still expect their privacy to be respected

Basically you got a no tresspassing warning because you wandered on private land. No big deal....it beats the heck out of some of our real life security systems (ie: attack dogs, big guns or electric fences) Nothing to worry about.....SL offers the same kind of privacy options as RL (sort of) in that some folks can choose not to allow others on their land by setting up security devices that will automatically eject a stranger who is not on the land owners 'ok' list. *shrug* Don't stress it... you did nothing wrong.

when I ventured into SL for the first time I was dismayed to find that such a thing as banning people from land existed. I came on here for an adventure to explore and see what residents had done in SL, being a RL designer and now a creator in SL it's natural for me to go around clicking every object in sight, 'what's this', 'does it do anything', 'is it for sale' etc. but I do conclude that a resident does have a right to privacy, even though I don't like it much at all.
