Just logged in to find that my home must be invaded by a mob of invisible avis. half of the parcel's used prim allotment claims to be selected, sat upon. I am selecting and sitting on nothing, and the sim is empty of any one else.

Any ideas about what could be causing this?

there are legitimate reasons for objects being shown as sat on, however, it doesn't mean 'sitting'. its just terminology that pops up when your parcel is borked, it can clear itself or if it gets worse you may require a restart.

This has been going on for awhile now in each of my parcels. Must be a bug.

I have noticed the same on my land for a while now.
Everytime I log in it looks as if an invasion of locusts has been sitting on the prims, thousands of them :D

Functionally, it appears to make no difference. Just started today. LL restarted the sim a couple of days ago during the last (or one of the last  ) major borkages, as we were getting the ghost prim problem. That was during one of the numerous rezzing crises that have become the normal state of affairs these days.

CAUTION: Do not rez any items, make transactions, teleport, speak, type, move, sit, dance, pixel, or engage in any other form of interaction with the client. Enjoy your Second Life(TM)

Mine's been like that for a number of days. Not only that but if I hit refresh list to see the owners of the prims, it shows me owning about 90 more prims than are actually on the parcel.

I wondered if my temporary jellyfish were doing this. But as Jannae says, it doesn't seem to effect anything.

It happened on my parcel in FairChang Balboa last week. I checked other parcels and all had a high number of selected/sat upon prims -- most had several hundred. It was fixed with a sim restart.

It recurred today.

I checked some of the surrounding sims. The problem was occurring on one, but others were ok.

this happened to me the first day I owned land. I filed a bug report. THey restarted the sim telling me it was indeed a bug. That fixed it.

Functionally, it appears to make no difference.

It does have a side effect, it breaks autoreturn for the not-really-selected items.

For a temp fix that avoids a restart, get some distance between yourself and your land, beef up your draw distance, unlimit your select distance in the Client/advanced menu, ctrl-3, drag a big box around all your land, then let the selection go. Lather, rinse, repeat if you have a lot of land to unstick.

Just logged in to try the afore-mentioned fix, only to be logged off as my sim is going down.

Maybe things will be better after the restart.

Heh heh, I backed up so far I was on a neighboring sim Mine did not restart.

Any way, the "fix" got me down to a handful of s,su's. Unfortunately now a warehouse on my dock is a set of ghost prims. The vendors and boxes within it now sit open to the sky, yet one walks into the walls that can't be seen or s,su.

Logged out, cleared cache, reboot pc, logged in and the warehouse is back. Still have a handful of thee s,su's. Saw on the blog rolling restarts on the horizon (again). I think I'll just wait it out. My land is no build, except for group tags, so auto return may not be a critical issue at this point.

All this on a sim with only 10 medium to large estates (mainland), no addfarms or laggy junk. Hate to complain, but will anyway.

Tired of having to jump through hoops just for the day to day. Dreams of a halfway stable client.

Racal, I would not wish to lose a fellow PT fan from these forums or in world.

(Yes, I caught your profile references.)
