Has anybody else noticed the ban walls now flash on and off ? [Rant] If it's just me then I'll mess with my settings ect... but if not (just me) whos stupid idea was it ? Like it's not as if they are not anoying enough as it is. I know we are not listened to by the Lindens but this is a step beyond. This is fucking with us in the most cynical way. [/RANT]

I ran into some the other night and they didn't flash. I think I'm using the latest RC. Did you just DL an update? They actually disappeared for me for a while, then reappeared the last time I updated, but they looked like normal ban lines.

Yep, noticed this just last night too. Really sucks. Bad enough to look them to begin with but now to have the flashing in your face as well. Could things get any worse?

@Trout - I'm using Second Life 1.19.1 (2) Mar 19 2008 17:40:40 (Second Life Release Candidate)
Glad (in a sort of way) it's not just me then. They must have hired some real f***tards in the last few months for them to think this is an improvement.

Just tried this with one of my alts and a Win XP system running the 1.19.1 (2) Release Candidate, and could not replicate it. The ban lines on my neighbor's parcel looked normal.
I also checked while logged in as myself, and as land owner there is no option to control how the ban lines look.

I just had a picture go through my head of an av in a trench coat running up to ban lines and, well, flashing them.

Has anyone tried jumping through them for the second they flash off? Kinda like the chompers scene in Galaxy Quest.

I downloaded the latest release client and didn't notice any flashing with either the plot next door to mine or on Elora's. Perhaps it's a graphics card issue (my specs below)? I have to say that while on Elora's plot I accidentally fell off the sand prim and into the ban lines. I was then thrown up and back onto the sand prim. It was pretty funny and I entertained myself with that about a dozen times, lol. Specs: Second Life 1.19.1 (3) Mar 26 2008 12:59:02 (Second Life Release Candidate) CPU: Intel Pentium 4 (Unknown model) (3192 MHz) Memory: 2048 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (Build 2600) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce 7600 GS/AGP/SSE2 OpenGL Version: 2.0.3 LLMozLib Version: [LLMediaImplLLMozLib] - 2.01.13969 (Mozilla GRE version 1.8.1.11_0000000000) ETA: If I move the camera around, the lines turn off at certain angles. I think it's a draw bug, not an intentional flash.

Maybe one other reason he finally took those megaprims down finally lol.

Is it flashing even when you're not moving around and the camera is still? Is it flashing in a regular interval?

yup moving, not moving, and regular, thats why I suspected a Linden upgrade was responsible.

I've noticed them flashing too, but put it down to positioning. However, I hate the blasted things... I have a small beach plot and am now almost surrounded by them. What do people DO that they have to have them up all the time?? The only time I put them up was when I was pissed with my neighbour (who's actually a friend - a bit like banishing your husband to the sofa, lol) and then it was only for a day. If it's that they're having 'sex', then couldn't they just put them up for that... a bit like drawing the curtains? It's unfriendly and antisocial and it's not like people can nick your stuff....

That has to be ONE OF my all time favorite cult classic movies! I am chomping at the bit to see if the ban lines look any different, now that I went ahead and downloaded Wind Light...I have heard someone say they couldn't see them, now that they have Wind Light.

I don't tend to see ban lines very much day to day. This comes from a combination of staying around nice large parcels and one of a) Engaging neighbours in polite conversation, explaining the issues (sometimes with the assistance of visual aids), helping them so set up security devices if they still think they need them or, depending on what you're having yourself b) terrorising people so that they bend to my will
I dropped into Elora's place at the same time that Hugsey was using the griefing neighbour's ban lines as a vertical trampoline. He saw then as steady all the time. I saw them as flashing at times, steady at other times.
I'm not convinced that there is any intention/attempt on LL's part to make them flash. It's just another quirk of SL - some combination of viewer version and rendering load on the PC.

I wonder... If a small parcel has ban linnes on, perhaps this flashing is caused by the lines on either side, or on adjacent sides, doing some sort of alpha glitch fighting? Either that, or it is specific to certain video card/OS configuratons. I still can't see it.
Using the alt that I have for testing bans, I looked at a nearby set of ban lines with the Mac RC3 client, and still saw no flashing.
