IF you are exploring with a friend, how do you stay together? Is there an action to "stick" the 2 of you together?
Also, is there a way to see where you have TP'ed if you didn't mark the place?
Thanks for your help

i don't think there is a history of where you've travelled. you need to remember to set a LM if you want to revisit a place.
there is no way to 'stick' together, you just need to have a conversation before you go wandering off. |

Thanks for your help Kat The way that I use to stay with a friend, is to simply teleport them to my new location. As for forgetting the location, the current SL viewer doesn't have a memory AFAIK. The Sheep Browser does, from what I remember. You get that viewer from http://viewer.onrez.com/ _____________________

easiest way to stay together is to send each other tp's. You can do this using each other's profiles, or on the friends (contacts) menu.
There is a HUD widget you can get which remembers the last 50 locations you TP'd to. Can't remember what it is called, but it is free and I think they have it at NCI plaza. |

I think there's something called "Mystitool" that is free. It remembers your teleport history and does a lot of other things. I have never used that function as I have a habit of landmarking.
But wouldn't a back and forward button just like your web browser be a great feature? It's what we're all accustomed to. |

I forget if it has a forward button also. _____________________

Thanks for the quick replies. Can you TP short distances? I'm talking about on the same sim, but when you lose sight of each other.

if you are responding to a tp sent by your friend, yes.
If you are clicking a location on the map, not always, but in this case you will get a beacon and a red arrow you can follow. |

In your friends list you can both also temporarily switch on 'can see on map' for each other and then you see each other on the map and TP to each other that way. Click on your frind on the map and then click on teleport. Mystitool does have a great TP history function, but I'm not sure the freebie has it. The full version is so cheap, everyone should have one. Have fun. |

you dont actualy need a special client the generic client works just offer them a teleport to the location via their profile once you get there.
Theer is no grouping like in mmorpgs the groups in SL are just well chat rooms with a tag but you can't link up. _____________________

There are also some products that allow you to hold hands or fly together. I think I've seen one where you rez a floating chair that follows you and your friend can sit on the chair. I think these all require the ability to rez objects on the land.

The Rendezvous is a tool that will allow two people to walk/fly together to explore (plus various other PG couples poses). It essentially works like a vehicle and requires that you are able to rez it somewhere, but you can usually then move with it onto nobuild land. My partner have it and use it extensively for exploring.
The paid version of the Mystitool (as well as several other multifunction HUDs) is capable of rezzing an avatar following chair which can be used to keep a group together. Finally, there is a device out there called "walk and talk", which will allow you to follow closely behind someone else. It has a tendency to get you hung up on sharp corners or walls, but otherwise is reasonably useful. I think it's made by Timeless Prototype. Only the follower needs to use it, but if the person in the lead has it, they can use it to walk forward without holding the direction keys, making it easier to follow paths and talk at the same time. |

If you have 'can see on map' enabled, you can go to the map screen and select your friend as if they were a landmark. Even if you don't want/need to TP to them, it will create a visible beacon in the main viewer you can use to find them again.
There's also an option (client menu, I think?) called 'Cheesy Beacon' that alters the beacon from a normal red pillar into a flashy, sky-filling special effect. The first time I noticed that on the menu, I misread it as 'Cheesy Bacon' mmmmmmmmhhh, bacon ![]() _____________________
