When i can finnaly get into second life, i have been having a problem where i can raise the terrain, but not lower it, and things are changing themselves to fullbright on there own, i have restarted the reigon with no effect. and have relogged/reinstalled etc, but nothing, it will raise ok, but not lower at all, even if i flatten it flattens the to highest point rather than the mean point

that happened to me before. I assume you are in a private SIM. somehow my SIM reset it's min amd max terraform limits to '0' on it's own last year. I had no clue they even existed, its in the estate control. it may be that.

World / Region/Estate - Terrain tab

Terrain Lower Limit indicates how low it will let you terraform the land. If you set it to 40m and you're trying to landscape at 20m the land would just shoot straight up.

Sounds like someone has uploaded a .raw file but didn't bake the terrain (save a copy of the terrain to what sim understands as its baseline terrain).

When that happens, sometimes the old bake is much higher or much lower than the terrain that was uploaded.

So even if you have +/- 100m variance, if you are working at 100m and the old terrain that's baked in as a reference is at 300m, no matter what you do the new edit will try to snap whatever you are working on to be as high as it can.

Or if the baked terrain is a lot lower, it will do the opposite and pull the land down under your edit.

The only way to fix this is to rebake the terrain or upload a proper raw file with the bake already in it (only the sim owner can do that).
