I can't log in and get this message:
"Login failed. Unable to connect to a simulator"
This sounds nasty - what does it mean?

This sounds nasty - what does it mean? means someplace between your isp and the SL host there is a lost connection. try rebooting your computer, and/or logging into a different location  (check grid status also, make sure its not an all over problem). ~brie

I got in but landed at a welcome place that was spinning with hundreds of people logging in. Dont go on for a while. I was naked.

Mine went down with no warning whatsoever - usually on a rolling restart we get a 5 minutes heads up - so this is something else --- though maybe the rolling restarts is part of the cause, it's not JUST that that's going on.

Oh yay...what is with all the borkage lately?
My clothes have been vanishing off me, hair partly disappearing, inventory not loading, etc. etc.
Not a great time to shop either. Some purchases never appeared.

I think its the rolling restart agony again. ONe of my sims was taken offline last night for a long period...and now when i go there i get the *this sim is runing a different version etc* so theyve obviously fiddled with something...seems to be runing a bit faster than last week though (yay) However upon arriving this morning my hai had vanished-nice touch

I'm in, able to chat and all that.. but, guess what I'm NOT going to be doing! I'm not going shopping or creating. Bad enough that last night, whenever I'd unlink something, it'd vanish. Permanently vanish, like it never existed. I'm not going through that today.

Yes, I've been getting this message too. It was working fine for me this morning though.
I agree with Faithless, I'm guessing its something to do with the rolling restarts.

[Update @ 9:00 am PDT] The rolling restart has been halted for the time being as there are a number of regions that have failed to restart properly. The engineers are currently investigating this issue. Any regions that may currently be offline should be brought back online once the situation has been resolved.
