Hello,

I'm a student at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and this study is part of my master thesis.

The purpose of my research is to analyze the role of trust in virtual worlds and in particular in Second Life.

The whole questionnaire takes around 10 minutes and it is completely anonymous, at the beginning you will be asked to enter your email address but that is not displayed anywhere or used by me or the program, you can even enter a few letters and it works anyway.

Your partecipation would be greately appreciated.

Please click on the following link, or copy/paste it on your browser:

Thanks a lot for your help!

How can we trust you that this is not a scam?

I think not anymore. However, one must comply with international trademark law when using LL's marks outside this website. The subject questionnaire infringes on the Second Life trademark.

I'd feel more inclined to do this if you hadn't just joined. If somebody has been inworld for a good while and then finds something research-worthy they'd like to explore, that's great, in my opinion, but if I get the feeling somebody has only joined to do their research I feel a bit like a guinea-pig.

Just finished the survey. It was one of the better crafted ones that I have seen.

Good luck!

Simply put: trust noone beyond what you see of them in SL. That is the best rule of thumb.

The questionnaire gives me the impression that the maker has been inworld a while. Maybe this is an alt?

T'was a decent survey.

Yes, you're right, I just took a look and did it. Sometimes I am just too cynical.

I've completed it for you Elly - good luck and I recommend (once again) the words of Tom Lehrer.

... and we'll sleep through all the lectures,
and cheat at the exams,
and we'll pass and be forgotten like the rest.

I just finished it too. Nicely done. It’s now my standard for judging future surveys.

Good Luck Elly :)
