I know sounds stupid but I got a call this morning at 3am and my brother told me my main account was online. ok so I try logging in and it tells me the system is logging me out and I could log back in at 11:56:38pm slt. so I waited and signed my alt in. my alt has edit and mapping capabilites so I sent (this account) an im and no respeonce so I tryed mapping this account and kept showing me in the void. so I went ahead and logged into secondlife website and nothing had changed. everything was ok there I even went ahead and changed my password just to make sure. so the friends that were online started im'ing this account to death and it finally signed off and I was able to get in. I got in and was in the same spot as logout and I went ahead and moved myself to my home and as of now the problem is back and this account is stuck in the void. why is this account keep logging back in? and is there somethign I can do being a free account or not?
edit* just submitted a ticket, dont know what thats going to do.

You're account is not 'logging back in', rather, it's failing to log out when you exit the client. I've seen this before, generally, there's not much you can do about it. There may be an issue with that particular server logging out clients. Try logging in, moving to another region, and logging out there and see if that helps. If that's the case, you know it's the region you're logging out of that's the problem.

A while back my AV remained inworld and logged in for several hours after I'd logged out and turned the pc off. The log out was perfectly normal from my end, but Wulf stayed in world so far as SL was concerned. Only discovered it when I couldn't log in the next morning, happened two days running. I got LL to fix it both times through live chat, which I guess you can't do. Never got an explanation, but they seemed to be familiar with it, so it must be happening to others.
Maybe a friend with a premium account could try a live chat for you? Or put in a support ticket and wait. Not much help I know.

Just to be on the safe side, you may want to go in and change your password too.

have already done that, found myself in a region I did not log off at and was in a totally diffrent av and even group tag and standing in a parcel which is locked ot just myself. so I went ahead and logged in again and this time it took and logged me out and I am now back in going to cancel my ticket. Thanks all

It's a glitch, I had three messages after I'd logged out yesterday, first two asking why I wasn't answering and then a third saying "Ooh the system lied, you're not online at all".

Try having your alt pay your main 1L. That will usually kick the stuck AV off.

If it's a private estate, contact the island owner (check the owner listed in the Covenant tab of About Land), and ask them to restart the sim. I've had to do this for tenants whose mains got stuck in the void before.

I once got a message from someone complaining that I had been standing for hours looking through his window, followed by a message from the same guy wanting to know how I managed to get the system to say I was offline when I was clearly standing there. I got the IMs in my email. I didn't quite follow him at first, then, when I got in-world, he sent me a picture showing me looking through his window--in I place I'd never been. I TP'ed over. I couldn't see my "ghost," although this guy could see me and it. Then he told me it wavered and vanished. I later checked the map and realized that the "ghost" was in a sim next to one in which I had crashed the night before--one of those crashes in which you seem to be shooting forward under the ground for a long time before crashing out. I had logged back in again after the crash, stayed in world a while, then logged out overnight . I think the "ghost" appeared at the time of the crash, stayed there while I logged in and out again, and overall existed about 18 hours. I have no idea what causes these "ghost" avis, but I know similar experiences have happened to other people.

Reboot everything connecting you to the internet, such as routers, modems, computer. Then try it. Sometimes a connection just doesn't want to let go.
Is it just me or does there seem to be an increase in the number of people with this issue? Maybe they have a presence issue again?

Are people using standard clients? or those hackedup clients? Some of those "hacked up clients" may be the ONLY reason we can function in-world AT ALL, considering the complete disaster of bugs that the newest client releases and 'betas' are filled with. Just so you know. (I use Nicholaz Beresford's version, and nobody's told me I've had a ghosting problem.)

Yes, the one and only time I ghosted (many months back) I was using the regular LL client. I have never ghosted (that I know of) since I started using Nicholaz.

I think he ment the ban evation clients often used by griefers and bot clients used by camp farmers.

Just so you know. " well i not refering to Nick versions but those others clients that are less structured and more prone to failure........." Once again since there are so many other 3rd party hacked up clients i wouldnt doubt the results were avies staying in world for hours and days at a time........
