Try completely deleting your SL folder (Application Data/Second Life). Also delete as much as you can out of your Temp directory. Uninstall and reinstall SL.
Even if that doesn't work, just wait. Things have been known to reappear after, even, days.
So long as you are not getting the dreaded "Item Missing from Database" message, there is hope.

So long as you are not getting the dreaded "Item Missing from Database" message, there is hope. Good advice. I have noticed that the asset server has been made more robust lately. I used to rez things all of the time, and I would get that message saying that the object cannot be created for whatever reason. (sometimes because I was rezzing it on a megaprim - a no no) Lately though, it seems code has been added to convince the unrezzed object to return to the inventory. I saw one reassuring message saying that the reaction time of the asset server was not timely, so the item was returned. Thankfully, I haven't lost anything yet; I hope that your stuff returns; I'm betting that it is still there. A day or two ago there was a big problem with what they call the DNS? (not sure, check blog) server? It gave an inaccurate concurrency number upon login, and made everything in my inventory inaccessible while ruthing me. Logins were also a nightmare. I suspect they are still recovering from this failure.

If the items were returned to the lost & found folder, you most likely did not try to rezz said box on the ground but the folder that vanished...

Are there any boxes in your lost and found folder? I collected all my things with the autoreturn option on my old land once and it just gave me a box I had to rez. Then everything was there once I did that. All over my land.:/

So long as you are not getting the dreaded "Item Missing from Database" message, there is hope. Thanks for the advice, I'll try that. To Novis Dyrssen: i did rezz a box, not the vanished folder. The box did actually rez but the reader froze when trying to copy the content to my inventory. To Rioko Bamaisin: Yes, there are boxes in the lost & found folder. They are exactly some of the missing items.

Unfortunatly I am getting the dreaded ITEM MISSING FROM DATABASE error and also unfortunatly it is on a ton of items ranging from old to new. Some were one of a kind builds that can never be replaced. This has disheartned me greatly and I am rethinking the viability of if I can remain in SL and as well as keep paying for the sims I own for lack of product stability. I know I am not the only one with this issue as I have heard the same horror story over and over again for the past week. Some as bad as mine and some not, but the common theme is the inability of LL to help with restoring the lost items. The first thing that popped into my mind was what could have happened that would cause such a thing to happen and two when it did happen were they not prepared with a alternate plan. It amazes me that a development venture of LL's size would possibly do anything that would impact ANY of its residence in this way knowingly. I am just at a loss and wish to vent since I can not find any resolution otherwise. And if any helpdesk people are reading this YES I did try every boilerplate method client side I was suggested...even though it is NOT a client side issue.

Yes, Armand, it does seem to be happening a lot this last week. Angelique says she had good luck with support on this issue ... I assume she is concierge, as are you if you own sims. No luck through calling LL?

Sigh. Posted on blog at 7:30 SL time:
Approximately 400 or so regions on the Main Second Life lost network connectivity for a short period of time this evening. The operations team had hoped to fix this swiftly, but some content may have been lost before the problem was resolved.

We adding alot of tech monkeys and we still have this nightmare occuring? nothing has changed only the linden first names have increased!

It is not anything rezzed in world, I am constantly loosing more and more items out of inventory...and apparently out of the database... I just talked to two more people earlier that had lost a large portion of there inventory earlier this week as well. I beleive something is wrong with the SQL database. As for the items disappearing in world I have heard of that happening as well just not as much but restoration of THOSE lost rezzed items apparently is a lot easier than items lost to the ITEM MISSING FROM DATABASE error. I assume this because no one I have talked to so far has gotten there items back yet.

No one else has posted an update yet so I guess I shall do it. !!YAY!! Most of my missing inventory items have returned. No more ITEM MISSING FROM DATABASE. Oddly enough they seem to be returning in the exact grouped order they disappeared in. With that in mind I am sure that over the next 5 days all of my items shall be returned. !! Thank you LL !!
