I apologize in advance if this has already been asked.

I am interested in sending a message only to those who meet a certain Role inside of a group on Second Life. For example, only the merchants. How would I go about doing this? Any help would be appreciated.

Well, other than manually pulling up all those with that role, you might want to ask in the Scripting forum.

I apologize if this is off-base, but my first gut reaction is don't, unless you own the group, or you are an officer in the group. Unsolicited messaging is considered spam and is subject to abuse reporting.

If you do own the group or you are an officer, I think the best you can do is to limit who can recieve notices. In other words, turn off notices for those roles you don't want to recieve notices such as general members, while leaving it on for merchants. I don't believe there are any scripts that can access such info.

lol, no, this isn't unethical behavior I am getting at. I am a newly-established intern, and I was tasked for contacting all the merchants on our land, which are conveniently labeled under the Role category in the group I am in. I wanted to know if there was a much easier way to do this is all.

That is a good idea. After sending the notice, you could turn the feature back on for everyone, if that is how it is set up now.

That is good to know! :^) Again my apologies, but a little healthy paranoia goes a long way in SL.
