I tried uploading a small image (64 x 32) and i checked the Losslesss compresion box. the image came out blurry.. What should i have done to keep it from going blurry? or is the image too small?

I think you might want to make your image into a 64 x 64 image before uploading. Images that don't start out sized as SomePowerOfTwo by SomePowerOfTwo will always be converted to having dimensions that are powers of two before they get used in SL.

Textures have hard lives. They are squished to fit the prim, they are constantly resized to match the camera zoom, and they are distorted to match camera angles and curves. You'll rarely see one displayed at actual size, so expect some nice blurry resampling to shine through. Tiny textures can work out fine for small objects or things viewed dead-on like HUD surfaces, but a lot of the time you're just going to need more pixels.
