Your "ghosted" in the last sim you logged out or crashed in. IF your perm send either a support ticket or get into live chat with them. they will either contact the island owner (estate) or if it's main land reboot it to kick you offline. This happens from time to time, it's what Ive come to live with :/

And if you're not perm, then what? I think I'm ghosted in Plum (or an adjacent sim) but keep getting the "login failed" message with the time moving up a few minutes each time. I submitted a support ticket but no response yet...

I think might be one of the things you can file a support ticket for.
You might be able to look at your chat history, if you keep a log of chat, and get a clue as to your last whereabouts, in case Plum wasn't correct.
Would the rest of us be able to find the ghosted avatar in Plum if that is the right spot?

Try logging into a different sim. Preferably an empty water sim.
Try logging in with an alt. If that works try sending a few messages to your stuck account and giving it some money.
Try rebooting your modem and router.
If you reinstall try clearing all the temporary SL files in the application data folder. I don't think those get removed during an uninstall.
Try the RC client.

OK, I made an alt and went to where my ghosted av is but I don't have any money to give it and the IMs don't seem to do anything. It's stuck in a vehicle so I'm wondering if maybe I can blast it or force it to crash/logout or something...maybe get it to a sim that will restart.
Can't login to another sim or home location. Upgraded to SL 1.22.11 but still can't login. Not a modem, router, or SL temp file issue. Why would RC client matter? It's server-side...

Well if you can get in with an alt then it's definitely on the server side. Did you IM yourself? Maybe give something from your inventory. Is the vehicle still movable? What if you rammed it with another vehicle? I'm not that familiar with pushing stuff around. I'm sure there are some freebie weapons that can do that.

OK so you know where your av is...you should be able to file a ticket to get it freed. Or you could use your alt to contact a friend inworld that has chat access, preferably concierge-level. Not sure that would be any faster of course, but if you've been stuck there for a WEEK clearly the landowner isn't paying attention to do it for you.

K, not sure where you're getting a "week" from but it's only been like 15 hours or so. I managed to push the car back into Plum, then tried crashing Plum with physical objects but that wasn't working so I was trying to move the car again when it got pushed into Tan due to some physical collision fighting. Then I noticed my other av was not in the car anymore (its green dot had been gone for about an hour or so before that) and then the car got returned a few minutes later but I could still IM my other av.
I've tried friendship, inventory, money (someone gave me 1L$) but nothing works. One time the IM even said the account was offline but then I IMed again a few minutes later and, sure enough, it was back online--huh? Screwy SL...
So now I'm just waiting for LL which probably won't reply until tomorrow when they open...so lame not to have 24/7 tech support.

Still having problems after 3 days now...I have been able to get back onto my account twice. The first time I was on it for a few hours and logged off (or so I thought) normally without being stuck in limbo or whatever (like what happened the first time I was ghosted), but when I tried to log back in hours later I got the same above "login failed..." message again. Then Lucia Ontyne, the "Linden" tech support handling my support issue/ticket, said they "cleared my presence" and wanted me to do the usual spiel of cache clearing, login location changing, and, wait for it, HUD attachment detachment. Huh? Not just all attachments but specifically HUD attachments. Uh...yea. So I just log back in without doing any of that unnecessary stuff (except I did choose my home location, Morris, vs. last location). So I'm in Morris and stuff is loading but when I try to move forward/back, nothing. I can turn but no fly or anything. Then I get the "SL has logged you off" message and when I try to get back in, "login failed..."--lather, rinse repeat. What the hell?
Then, after reopening the ticket for a 3rd time, hours later I get another reply saying they "fixed the issue" (again) but I still can't get in... Ridiculous. I just can't believe I'm the only one having this problem with all the recent server transitions going on or whatever.

Wasn't there someone who had a hud once that kept crashing sims? Huds can be pretty dangerous actually.

Rebooting doesn't help me, but I can login on an alt on the same machine with the same settings just fine so the problem is obviously on LL's side.

From: Eep Xue Rebooting doesn't help me, but I can login on an alt on the same machine with the same settings just fine so the problem is obviously on LL's side. It is very possible for one AV to have issues and not another on the same PC. Cache issues, setting borks, etc.. are saved for each AV separately. PC? If so go hunting for that AVs folder. It will be something like c:windows/"user"/applicationdata/secondlife/"avs name". If you like your chat logs find/copy/move them from that folder(if that is where you keep um). Then delete that folder. Hidden folder, you'll need to turn on see hidden files. This should refresh your viewer for that AV. Or at least eliminate corrupt cache or xml files being the cause. I can't say this will fix all your issues. It does sound like you are ghosting... or crashing sims as you log in. If you can get in, drop every scripted attachment you are wearing and cross your fingers... Best of luck =)
