Speaking of Paying Tier - Payment Question

Dumb question: Will my Tier payment come out of my credit card on file, or will it be taken from funds available in my inworld account?

I haven't yet had to make my first payment and I know it's coming up soon.

It comes off your US$ balance first and then the credit card on file. Doesn't touch your linden dollar balance....

I don't know what you mean by "US balance first" but, I assume you mean my credit card period (I'm from the States).

no, she means any US$ credit you have sitting there.

just as you can buy Lindens, you can also sell Lindens for US$, at which point you would show a $US credit in your account history.

You'll see you have two balances with LL: one L$, one US$

Tier (or any US$ transaction you do with LL) will always come out of your US$ balance first, and then your payment method.

If you have enough L$ to cover your tier, you can sell those on the LindeX (https://secondlife.com/currency/sell.php) so that you'll end up with a positive US$ balance on your account.

Elora, in your account page you have two balances, L$ and US$. It will come off your US$ if it can. Otherwise it comes off your credit card/paypal/whatever. At least, that's how I interpret it.

Ok, now I understand. I looked at my account. Actually, I have L$ balance, but no US$ available. I don't use Paypal. I just assumed, that once Tier was ready to be paid, they would automatically deduct it from my credit card, but I guess that isn't the way it happens. I suppose, I have to set it up that way, or make sure there is always enough in my L$ to cover the tier. Obviously, it seems setting up the credit card makes more sense, since buying Lindens, would cost more money.

That is the way it happens. I think we might be making you more confused instead of less confused .

L$ have no value whatsoever as far as LL is concerned, they only sell them, they will not buy them back or accept them as payment for tier or premium account fees.

If you're a "pure consumer" your US$ balance will always be US$ 0, so they'll always bill your credit card or PayPal, whichever of the two you're using.

If you were to ever earn money in-world you could sell those L$ to other residents on the LindeX to get a US$ balance and LL would go after that first before hitting your credit card (or PayPal).

Elora. They will pull tier from your USD balance first before tagging your credit card/paypal. It is that simple.

You do not need to add to your USD balance for tier. You do need to add for buying L on the LindeX.

Just wanting to clarify - this will only occur if your tier is paid to LL.

Private estates, you have to go to the box and handle it...

Example: you owe $50/month in tier.

Your US$ balance is: $0
Your tier is due, your balance becomes: $-50
A negative balance triggers the payment system which charges your credit card for $50
Your US$ balance is: $0

You don't have to worry about *how* it works though.

In your case it's simple: LL will charge your credit card whenever tier is due.

Your US$ balance is: $100
Your tier is due, your balance becomes: $50
Another month passes, your balance becomes: $0
Yet another month passes, your balance becomes: $-50
A negative balance triggers the payment system which charges your credit card for $50
Your US$ balance is: $0

Elora, if you are paying LL for mainland tier, it comes out of your US$ balance first, then your credit card.

One final tip: Puting enough into your US$ account for say, a few months, will enable you to clear your CC balance and not have to keep paying monthly into that!
