It varies, but it's usually around L$266-7 per $1 USD, whether you're buying or selling. Doesn't matter whether you buy in-world or direct from LindeX. See these links: LindeX: https://secure-web0.secondlife.com/currency/Buy Lindens: https://secure-web0.secondlife.com/currency/buy.phpSell Lindens: https://secure-web0.secondlife.com/currency/sell.php

If you're talking about how to maximize your purchase and sale of L, then you want to buy when the number of L/USD is high and sell when it is low. If you buy at 280L/USD and Sell at 270L/USD you have made a gross profit of 10L/USD. Those numbers are simplified, and your margin will likely be much smaller, plus fees may cut into that. Full scale currency trading on Lindex or SLX is very difficult because the value of the Linden is very stable. In order to profit to any great degree, you would need to have a really large bankroll to move back and forth.

That's what you get if you put in $1.00 to buy, it distorts the L$ dollar return, because you have to pay the transaction fee out of that 1 dollar. If you put in $10.00, you will find you will get 2580 L$, or 258/US dollar. Look at the Market Data page to see what the average conversion rate is, or put in limit buys and sells if you want to shoot for a higher rate. Or try SLExchange.

Sounds like you are buying at market rate, and that varies with the amount of L you are purchasing. Buying $10 of L gets you more than buying $1 of L ten times because the exchange rate is better with the bigger purchase. Do a limit buy and look at the 20 best sell offers if you want to buy immediately. This is typically 266 or 267 L/ USD.

Due to the fiee structures etc., last time I figured it out it seemed there was a slight advantage to buying Lindens on SLX and selling them via Lindex (these were relatively moderate amounts, a few 10's of thousands).

Can someone please explain me this a little bit? Where to buy where to sell? When you buy lindens there is a 30 cent fee. If you are only trying to buy $1 worth you will actually only be getting 70 cents worth. Buying in that small a dollar amount is the problem. The fee for purchases is a flat 30 cents and the fee for selling is 3.5%.
