Second Life 1.22.11 (113941) Mar 6 2009 12:50:02 (Second Life Release) Release Notes Second Life Server 1.30.1.135015 Release Notes CPU: Intel Pentium 4 Northwood (2524 MHz) Memory: 1024 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 (Build 2600) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce4 MX 420/AGP/SSE2 OpenGL Version: 1.5.7 Any idea why my computer can no longer see advanced water? It is active but makes no perceptible changes. My water is basically transparent and stays that way. The only thing that works is the water fogger color for underwater. Everything else went away a couple of viewers ago...I thought it was my graphics card drivers but somehow I doubt that. Would the implementation of "Windlight" have done that? I also lost several other graphics preferences that USED to be active and are now grayed out. Thanks for any enlightenment. P.S. Please don't laugh at my graphics card. lol

"How long ago did you lose water?" Sheepishly, I admit I think it's been about a year. I blew it off when it happened because I figured SL had just advanced past my card's capabilities and that there wasn't much I could do about it. Everyday, I'm just sweating turning on SL and seeing {Sorry your hardware is no longer supported} If folks new my FPS on a good day, they wouldn't complain about 20fps being laggy. LOL. But this old computer is hangin' in there

Yes, that was Windlight that stole your good-looking water.
I also had an older PC with an AGP video card, and I can tell you that virtually none of the cards that still used the AGP interface were sufficently advanced to display nice-looking water under Windlight.

Replace the graphics card. What you have now is well below the minimum requirements for Second Life.
AGP graphics cards are getting harder to find. You can still pick up something decent for it though. At least something better than you have now.
I see an Nvidia 6800 Ultra on Tigerdirect for a hundred bucks. That should be pretty decent. Or you could get an Nvidia 6200 for a few dollars. A 6200 will still suck, but not nearly as bad as what you have now.

Veronique Gontineac and newbies
10-22-2009 15:14
I would just like to say that Veronique Gontineac has nothing better than to do mean things to people she believes are newbies. And just because I don't boast about being in SL before does not mean I am a newbie. And people who think it's cool to be a vet should get a life from Bad Verino
