I down loaded the new RC but when I go to log in I get this Message..."unable to connect to second life. DNS could not resolve the hoset name.please veriy that you can connect to www.secondlife.com web site if you can but still continue to receive this error please go to the support section and report this problem" So I went to sl.com and reported the problem and no response from LL yet.

Do any of you computer wiz's out there possibly know what can be wrong? I am able to run the old version of sl with no trouble at all.

1 more thing that seems odd...when I get to the log in page on the new RC there is a red bar at the top that says "file", "edit" "help"
Thanks for any help you can give me :)

Sounds like it is trying to connect improperly. I know when the new RC tried to dl automatically(forced) it did not work very well and downloaded very slowly. I stopped the dl then went to

http://secondlife.com/support/downloads.php and dl it from there. Works like a charm.

My suggestion, uninstall the copy you have now and restart pc...then goto that page and dl the correct version and you should be good to go.

Thank you Felowen, I tried it but I still get the same error message. I guess I'll just have to wait for LL to read my ticket and hope they can fix it. Till then...its the regular SL for me

Does anyone know how long it takes for LL to review a support ticket? I placed mine on Friday and it is still listed as NEW not reviewed.

It was the weekend...I doubt they had much opportunity to look at anything but the most critical tickets.

In my experience though, it's been anything from a day to a couple of weeks for a response.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

When I was getting that error message I had to reset my router and it cleared up. Usually just unplug it for a few minutes and plug it back in.

I've seen suggestions to a) flush your DNS cache and b) try another DNS server like http://opendns.com.

Thank you all for your advice...unfortunetly nothing is working. If I'm not mistaken don't all versions of the client access the same DNS and if so why does one client connect and not the other?

If you use a Mac it is a known problem, there is a fix pending
