Ad Farm Extortion

Now that the Lindens are cracking down on ad farms being priced at 100L + per meter, how do we go about getting them to enforce it? There is an ad farm in the middle of my land, and I have contacted every owner and offered them a fair price of 10L per meter. Most seem to have left game, but the few that have responded are sticking with their demand for 100L or more per meter.

Do I submit ARs on all of them? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

As far as I am aware, you are supposed to AR land extortion that affects you.

At least if you want the extortion remedied.

Submit an AR. Exact rules for what constitutes and Ad Farm vs an ugly build and someone's over-inflated sense of value have not been posted for as much as I know. However, from my own ARs and observances, I believe the following is true:

1. The land must be set for sale at a high price. If it’s not for sale at all, it won’t be dealt with. High probably means L$100/m² or more.

2. The land must contain obviously ugly prims. Pr0n ads, loud textures, particles, and etc. will be considered an Ad Farm. A simple “For Sale” sign, as ugly as it may be, won’t be dealt with.

Good luck.

You can not AR someone for putting even as much as 1,000,000 per metre as a price on their land.

As far as LL poilcy is concerned, " 'Ad Farm’ will apply specifically to advertising or content that is intended solely to drive an unreasonable price for the parcel it is on, usually by spoiling the view of others. "

If there is content (= prims/effects) on any of those parcels that a reasonable person would see as a deliberate attempt to extort a sale, then AR those parcels.

My solution to combat the ugliness of it all was to completely surround the ad farm with nice shiny buildings. :) I would still prefer to buy the land, but if I can't, at least no one has to look at it.

Thanks for all the info!

More then likely..if they are an ad farm...they will move their ugly prims up your nice shiny buildings...
