My husband used to keep 3 alts online all the time. Lately, he hasn't been able to keep even 2 online. I don't know what has changed, because it doesn't matter which version of the client he uses.
Any recommendations on what we might look at to make this process easier?
I already had him change port connection to 13001 and drop his bandwidth, no good.

Is he unable to get all three logged on, or is he having trouble with them timing out? I was able to log myself and my 2 alts in just a few days ago. I wanted to take some pics of all 3 avi's together, and I was able to have all 3 in for at least a half hour or so without any trouble. I logged in with Windlight and used the regular viewer for the alts.

Well, I definately had some lag. It helped to turn the draw distance down on the alts, and run them in a non-WL client, but I didn't have the crashing problem. Hmm...I wonder what has changed that he could do this before, and is having trouble now. Wish I had some sage technical advice I could offer.

Try reducing quality settings like bumpmap and shiny. Reduce draw distance. Also some maintenance on the computer like doing a cleanup of old files and a degragging of the hard drive may help.

Thanks X - he had already done the maintenance, and he just now told me that he downloaded the regular client, told it to overwrite the existing version and now has 2 alts online comfortably, although the 3rd is laggy. I'll work with him on those other settings.

Aren't there stripped down clients used for bots? Why not use one of those?

If they have one avie using the main cliant they can run sleek with many avies windows open being their eyes. Since the they always seems to be asking for TP into the clubs from the start. Hence the need for a "full graphics client" running each one is not needed.

From: Usagi Musashi ... i know one dance club in fact that has many many of these running. You mean to tell me that is why no one will talk to me at a club? They're all alts being monitored by no one? And here I thought it was my breath. /me's self esteem just rose a tiny notch.

well no, those using sleek can chat as well. If they are indeed not AFK. Thats their choice. All I was refering to was those that use for those purpose of dance clubs. And why not, real traffic doesnt exist anymore right?

Have him try the JVA Second Life bot, it uses almost no system resources. It's only text based once the bot is online and connected to the inworld base station so he can talk thru it but not see anything.

OK, for dancing this sounds like it may work, but shopping sounds impossible
