3rd party objects on microplots

The recent drama-filled thread on 16 sq microplots got me thinking.

On roaming the world I frequently encounter microplots filled with other resident's stuff. Not from the owner, who quite frequently is Governor Linden, but from other people.

Sometimes it's clear rubbish, e.g. plywood cubes, but sometimes it's plants or pictures or signs.

Now I wonder: As long as the owner hasn't sent autoreturn, it seems to be quite OK for people to do this, doesn't it?

To me, it's not a big problem as long as the object is not there for extortive purposes (e.g. a huge blinking tower set for sale), in which case it should be AR'ed. What do you think about this practice?

This is not confined to microplots. Any build-enabled plot without autoreturn will tend to attract junk over time, especially if the owner rarely visits. It's up to the owner to mind or not. I have heard of people deliberately filling such plots with inoffensive stuff like plants or invisible prims in order to prevent them becoming eyesores.

There can be a problem with abandoned land that reverts to Governor Linden as autoreturn is turned off on these parcels by default. If Governor Linden also owns, say, a vehicle rezzing area on the same sim it can become unuseable because the abandoned land has too many prims on it. In cases like this, or if it has become a general eyesore, they are pretty good at coming and cleaning it up if you put in a support ticket. I do wish that abandoned land had autoreturn switched on automatically.

I think anyone should look at his own parcel. Some people seems to be bothered by microplots but other aren't. As soon as they do not cross their border they can do whatever they like and I will buy that microplot only if I want not if he wants. He can put glowing rotating objects and anything. I just don't care because that is his parcel.
Regarding 3rd party objects on 2nd party parcels... Owner is free to do whatever he think is ok for him as soon he is not damaging anyone in anyway.

There was (perhaps still is?) a group called "guerilla gardeners" in SL who have this aim, for exactly the reason you quote.

I have also had success with this :)
