I have searched google and find instructions on how to use Skype and it seems to refer bac to the SecondTalk Headset – great – where can I get one? I am assuming it is an attachment – are there any alternatives? How do I switch of voice communication on my land? What is the meaning of life?

I am assuming it is an attachment – are there any alternatives? How do I switch of voice communication on my land? What is the meaning of life? Are you talking about Skype or Secondlife Voice? They are two different things. Skype is a program for communicating with another person and does not require SL to be running. Where as Voice in SL does. I use Skype and have my "voice" preference turned off in SL. But that's my preference. Skype is extremely easy to use and all you need is a headset...pretty much any headset. You may need to configure your microphone (that is built into the headset) and your sound before hand, but once that is done, you can call any other person that uses Skype and is on your skype friendlist. As for using Voice in SL, you'll need a headset, and I don't think you need to use a "secondtalk" headset...pretty much any headset will work. You'll also need to activate "voice" in your preferences...plus not all land is voice acivated...keep that in mind. If you need to know more about SL "Voice" you can look up more instructions here on the SL website |

Hi Zena! The SecondTalk headset is actually a cute little HUD that someone put together just for using Skype in SL. It provides the ability to detect other Skype users in the area and start conversations with them by clicking on their name, without leaving SL to start the conversation in Skype's client. If you already know the person's skype id that you want to talk with in SL, you don't need the SecondTalk headset.
There's a website for SecondTalk (which is the name for Skype in SL), with a list of where to get the headsets here: http://www.secondtalk.com/get-second-talk/ |

To disable voice on your parcel, look in the About Land dialog, media tab, voice settings section.
If you own an estate, you might also look at the World menu, Region/Estate, Estate tab, Allow voice chat. Similar thing for regions, i believe. edit: oh, and the meaning of life is, obviously, 42. |

If you already know the person's skype id that you want to talk with in SL, you don't need the SecondTalk headset. So how do i go about doing it? I use skype a lot, I wasn't aware i could still call them within SL. |

Just as you normally would without being in SL.
