Start by looking here.

You're standing on what appears to be the bare-minimum processor. I'm guessing you're also using "on-board" video hardware instead of a dedicated graphics card. Your system may have enough RAM for SL, but judging by what you've posted here, I can't imagine you'd have much success going anyplace but an isolated skybox.

Aside from RAM (which you have plenty of) I think my netbook may have better specs for SL.. and that's not saying much.

...

Once you've noted that, let's talk about this crashing. You say you're crashing whenever you teleport. Are you crashing when the screen is black, or crashing after you arrive?

If you're crashing when the screen is black and getting the "ding, you have been logged off" popup, that's generally a networking timeout. Check to see what your avatar is wearing. The more prims, the more SCRIPTS you're wearing, the longer it's going to take for server A to tell Server B all the things it needs to know, to "rez you". The easiest solution there is to take off all your attachments, huds, etc, and try tping without them.

If SL is actually quitting, like a SOFTWARE CRASH, then you might want to look at how full your HD is. If the drive is very full, your poor processor may be doing a heck of a lot of page-file swapping, and that can add time, and effort to the teleports, and in some cases can result in a crash. Especially if the HD is so full that the cache is filling it up.

Third, have you tried other sims? It may be that SOMETHING in the new sim is "poison" to your computer. IE.. some sort of twisted torus, being viewed from just a certain angle, that's causing your system to crash. WHile this is pretty unlikely, with your older CPU and if you're really using onboard video.. then that might be happening.

ALso another issue to consider is heat. Heat, and video memory. I burned out 3 256mb video cards using SL. Once I switched to a 512, all was good.. I have 2 monitors, and I noticed that if I tried to stretch the SL window onto 2 monitors (or even have ONE PIXEL of the window on the second monitor) all heck would break loose and the video card would crash. But it's just a matter of video memory.. and onboard video tends to SHARE memory with the PC. a deadly combination for SL, since it require both plenty of ram, and plenty of video ram.

I crash just after I arrive and objects rez then straight to desktop. Odd thing is this started since this last Thursday. Before I was on voice with a lot of people in a sim, dancing and ran Paint Shop Pro.

I only have the one monitor and the HD is basically empty.

It floors me that every thing is working fine then all the sudden it stops if I leave the 2000M platform.

Thank you for all your suggestions I will check into each and every one of them.

I tried to look up that Intel Eaglelake GPU to see if the driver version is current.......but Eaglelake is apparently a series that is no longer manufactured (it's been replaced with the Intel G** series and in order to know what driver you need you need to know which G** series it actually translates to). It is an Intel onboard chipset which is problematic when you combine Vista and any graphically instensive program like SL. I believe you are using Vista Home Basic which means Vista's Aero features would not be an issue......but if it is Vista Home Premium then turn off the Aero.

I think your problem is your computer is being overwhelmed with data once you leave your platform. The problem most likely is the video data rushing in but it could be swamping your CPU too. Try lowering your bandwidth in your preferrences to 500 kbps (or if it's already set to that lowering to 50% of what is set at). That may slow what your computer has to deal with enough to stop your crashes. Also, on your graphics tab, lower your settings to the minimum. If that helps then slowly increase one setting at a time until you reach the point of crashing (that can be time comsuming).

Right now, that's about all I can think of to add to what Winter mentioned.
