Hello,

HUD won't show up on the screen after attaching it to any corner of the screen. It's a dance HUD and one Gadget which I can not use due this BUG. It's listed in my inventory as worn on top right, I can drop the object out of my inventory to the ground - so it's there.

Taking it back to my inventory, wear it on top right (or anywhere else) - but it won't show up on my screen.

I tried different viewers
Cleared Cache
Tried to change SIMs
Transparent modus wont show them either
re installed SL viewer

Does anybody know about this and have any advice? :)

Thank you!

Hi Ava!

Most likely, your HUD is offscreen. Follow the steps described in this knowledge base article to get it back:

If the HUD you are looking for might be transparent, then you may also want to check "Show Transparent" in the View menu.

In the unlikely event that you're still using the Release Candidate viewer (1.23 RC0), there seems to be a bug specific to that release that affects HUDs with overlapping alpha layers. Not sure if that will be fixed in RC1, but if you should happen to be using that RC0, reverting to 1.22 (the standard release) might help.

This is a good place for me to ask this. Sometimes, if I attach a hud to a specific place on the screen, it will not show up. But, if I wear it, it shows up on the screen. Where is it hiding?

I have read in other threads on this that sometimes the hud will be rotated so that when you attach it to your screen, you may be looking only at the edge of it rather than the face.

Yes. I've had that as well as the off-screen hud - which is not uncommon.
Sometimes a hud designer will work on the assumption that the hud will always be in a certain part of the screen, and not consider any other possibilities.

One of the reasons for an off-screen hud could be:

Even thought there are fixed hud *attachment points* at which to attach a hud, it is possible to use Edit to move them to any part of the screen - even to the opposite side of the screen from the attachment point.
THis is very useful in organising screen layout when you have a collection of huds, minimap, chat, status, whatever to organise.
If a hud is worn and edited in position away from the attachment point, then if it is attached to a different attachment point, it could 'appear' (or not) in unexpected places.

The worst HUD I ever had was for some freebie thing. It had a transparent texture everywhere except the front side.

I never COULD find the darn thing, and threw it out.

At this late date, I realize I could've enabled Transparent (CTRL+ALT+T) and had another look around.
