Okay, I am terribly frustrated and cranky! I am tired of SL freezing up on me. Before the last few updates, I had no problem with this freezing/locking up with SL. My computer worked just fine...it was actually built to run SL specifically a year ago.

Yes...Yes...I have the dreaded Vista, which I actually like...and yes, I am running a GeForce 8600 GTS Nvidia graphics card. Yep, got the latest drivers...and version of SL. I know there is an issue with Nvidia and SL, but there are specific times when it gets worse....very noticeable around 8:30 p.m. SL and other times. Already defragged....cleaned out all temp files all cache files...etc....and i see no noticeable improvement.

Any suggestions other then buying a new vid card? I am not that computer savvy so you might have to "splain" stuff in detail.

Thanks!

Is it possible your anti-virus or other anti-malware software has started doing a scan at that time?

I dealt with that over the summer, and the fixer was buying more memory/ram. I wasn't even able to turn around outside of my own sim without freezing like crazy. Now, no problems and that's the only thing I have done.

I agree with the added memory, made a significant difference in the number of freezes for me. Went from 1 gig to 2.

The thing that actually eliminated the problem was going from windowed to full screen mode on the SL client. Since then no lock ups. I also have Vista and a 8800 GTS.

Okay, will try clearing out the chat logs. I have 4 gigs of ram but is seems only 3 gigs are being used. Will try the windowed thingy as well. Thanks every one.

You're nowhere near the first person I've heard with a GeForce card who is having troubles. Add Robin Sojourner and Torley Linden to the list of Frustrated SLers who use GeForce cards. in most cases, it's mac folks having the issue. Anyway, here's the JIRA page...

Okay, none of the solutions listed seem to help! The only redeeming feature, is my MacBook I bought a couple of months ago doesn't seem to have the issue of freezing like the windows based PC. LOL...only problem is the tiny screen and not being use to the Mac well enough to build...talk about frustration!

Happy Holiday's and here is to a better lag free, nividia graphic fix SL New Year.

I have a 8600GT on Vista Ultimate. I turned off ALL of the Vista eye candy and it made a world of difference for me.
