Do you have to log in to SL before using the forums?

After creating a Second Life account, can you access the forums here before you log into the virtual world?

I'm trying to find out if I can tell prospective users to check out the forums if they want to before they even enter the virtual world.

You need an SL account, of course, but I don't think you have to actually log into SL via the viewer first. You just need to log on through the web page.

I suppose if it makes them, then there's no reason why they couldn't just log onto OI (or HI - whatever we have now) and then log right off and come to the forums.

According to the KB, you have to log in-world once before you can access the forums. Of course, it still says you have to have payment info on file too...

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

i remember when i was first learning about SL just over a year ago (i have an older alt :P) i thought the forums would be a perfect place to learn about SL and i ran into this very problem. I had an account, did this, and that, and the other but was unable to view the forums for the simple fact that i had not actually stepped a foot inworld yet.

Send your friends to www.mermaiddiaries.com. thats where i send most people these days who want to learn a little more about second life.

So your final Nimbus Score is 8.15, a quite remarkable achievement for a biped. Congratulations Crunch, you should be very proud. :-)

I'd suggest that people just go straight into SL and skip the forums until they know enough about SL to start asking questions about it.

We've had a few people do that, apparently. It results in questions like, "Hey, can someone tell me all about Second Life?"

You have to have at least a little time in world to 1) understand what the heck everyone is talking about here, and 2) know what questions to ask.
