Anyone using the new ATI 3870 X2 video card ?

Just installed mine and avatars are invisible. Hair and some clothes show up but nothing else. Land and buildings seem ok too.

Any ideas anyone ?

Have you checked to see if there are more current drivers on the manufacturer's site? I know it's a new card but it can't hurt to check.

What SL viewers have you tried? Have you tried the regular onw, the latest FirstLook WindLight, and the latest Release Candidate?

I just upgraded to the single GPU 3870 512mb and I haven't been able to play since. I've tried 4 different viewers and 3 different driver versions. No one seems to know what the deal is. I'll keep an eye on this thread, if you happen to come across a solution please post. Thanks.

ATI released the new 8.2 drivers on the 13th and they seem to have done the trick

Many thanks for your response.

It's a relief not to see avatars as just purely hair walking around lol

SL crashes after a few minutes. Not sure what to do now, I guess it's the video card drivers and it might be a while before they are sorted out.

I've tried the latest version on the download site and the Windlight version. The latter flickers horribly.

Shame because it is an awesome card in just about every game I've tried it in. It doesn't like SL though.

Thank you for contacting AMD Customer Care for ATI products.

In that case, the issue seems to be game-specific. I would suggest that you contact the game developer for advice (possible game patches).

I don't see that one listed as a supported card on SL's system requirements page.

Mine isn't either, actually, and I've never had a problem, but it's another factor to consider.
