Have you ever encountered someone who looks a lot like you in Second Life? SL is a huge place, or is it? The search feature has become quite Google-ish, and the top places list may be same for me as it is for you. The Goodlife, Redgrave, Naughty Island, Vista, Abranimations, RAC, etc, all brand names or popular places in Second Life. To get to the point, there is probably at least -one- person (avatar) in Second Life who looks exactly like you with the same skin, hair, AO, or clothing tastes. Maybe they even have a similar name as you. Are these coincidental clones evil twins, or are you the evil twin? Certainly the chicken or the egg concept can easily be resolved by a rez-date. If you were gay and found a doppelganger just like you, would you civilly unite with them in SL and real life? Speaking of real life, do you know of a doppelganger of yourself in the non-virtual world? Do you have strange desires to murder them like a companion cube? I murdered someone in Second Life before; it was my own wife. Here is what happened... I caught my little wifey (my pet name for her, hehehe) being a coquettish little homophobe on my land so naturally I enabled damage and murdered her with a modified popgun. The incident makes me chuckle when she is away, and I dream about her in my mother's basement while asleep and dreaming of ultimate privacy in SL. Ugh, I'm getting a little random here...
Tell me a story about a time you found someone in SL who looked a lot like you or had a similar name.

Despite my ravishing good looks , I'm fairly ordinary looking so it's not surprising if I meet people who look almost like me. I was at New Citizens Plaza once, just spectating a discussion and I noticed a woman sitting near me. She looked very similar but not identical. I considered marketing my shape, at a fairly low price. But I was put off by the thought of meeting loads of meee lookalikes posing about the grid! A freind of mine once teleported me into some vast den of iniquity because she'd met another Conifer there and she wanted me to meet him (yes, this was a male called Conifer and a newbie) we said hello but we had nothing in common apart from our names.

I had a customer at my RL job yesterday who looked like one of my alts. It was really creepy. I didn't even want to look at her. I rushed to finish her transaction as quickly as possible so I could get rid of her.

Just thought - When I was in RL I used to know someone who looks like Ruth! My RL has investigated Central Grid and Open Life - two SL clones using LL source codes (or whatever they're called) In both those new, experimental worlds, you only get one avatar choice, like a scrawny, anorexic version of Ruth, in red trousers and a grey top. So everybody looks the same.

From: Arua Rotaru so now we get to listen to ridiculous questions from an alt of yours also? You just bumped the thread to the top of the forum page and now even more innocent people have to listen to a "ridiculous question". Damn you!!

just a suggestion

guys..im speaking from personal experience here..I've allowed myself to become emotionally invested in forums before..not these..yet. but i have and..I don't know if anyone would admit it if they had but..if you have..ya know how things can sort've veer out of control. I like to compare it to falling for that guy who rejects you..and being rejected makes you do the most stupid crazy stuff which pushes him even further away? Anyone ever done that? This person might be everything they've been called..but truly..do they really deserve the wrath and disdainful responses from everyone here? let them up...stop kicking them while they're down..let them breathe. There are ways of being intolerant without being vicious. If someone had showed me some kindness back in the day maybe I wouldn't have battlescars from being taught the painful lesson of not to become emotionally attached to that feeling that people are responding to you..they actually care what you think. I think I could've learned that lesson a better way Behind these avatars let's try to remeber our humanity..."Please". My two cents. ~Lana Tomba

Lana, I can't speak for everyone, but I'm basing it on an assumption that this is someones alt who is making fun of someone else. In fact she has emphatically stated it's not her.

if that's the case
02-03-2008 20:45
either way right?...if it's not the person...then it's mean to post as an alt with a name so close..if it is the person..then isnt it a bit sad? Doesn't it seem a bit overkill? Am I understanding right? Unless you're teliing me that the actual person is trying to make fun of someone else via an alt of their own..then they're a glutton for punishment and thats sad too? ~Lana Tomba
