And it just kept repeating itself, so my screen was covered. I was going to mute and AR the avatar, but there is no avatar with that name? Anyone else encounter this? What do I do? I don't know where it it coming from. Some kind of object, I would guess, but I don't know where.

I had similar problem when I had land elsewhere few months ago and I had to get very smart female friend we both know to help me. I forgot where you find it but their is setting that allows you to track who made the item you're listening too....but I forgot. I wish I could help. Maybe someone knows what I am talking about. It tells you exactly the name of device you want to mute, including owner if I remember its client somewhere. Or maybe you could contact our smart friend and ask her if she would help when she logs in if no one else knows what I am talking about. The item I had was called Box of Noise or something similar and it just screamed over and over again. Similar type of object. I couldn't return item either because of where they put it. At first I couldn't even find it. My friend had similar device spamming her story except it went on over and over again about how it was the end of the world. _____________________

The text is light green. I'm just getting it over and over. My immediate neighbors and I have auto return on. I have an object/avatar finder, and it could not locate anything within 96 meters. This is awful. I can't even be on my land. I suppose that is the whole point - to force me to sell cheap!
I don't know what to do, other than a support ticket, and those take forever. FD, thanks for the suggestion, I'll check with our mutual friend and see if she can help locate it. But then I still have to get Linden to kill it somehow. Princess Ivory _____________________

An object doesn't even need to be in the same sim to IM you - it just needs your avatars UUID..
Try turning on the setting that sends you email when you get an offline IM (in preferences, somewhere) then logging off right away when the messages start up again. If you get an IM from an object while you're logged in, it doesn't say the location. If you get an IM from an object while you're _not_ logged in, the email contains the objects location... _____________________

Green text is same text when our mutual smart friend makes FD grumpy door or Mr pants talk.
It is script. No clue about anything other then that. I had same problem with this 512m2 lot I had sold few months back with that box that kept screaming that our friend had to help me figure out how to track the device to mute it. _____________________

My object finder couldn't find it. I tried several variations on the name. Don't know why it can't find it.
And it is even doing it up in my sky store at 500 meters! Is it just IMing me, or does everyone in the area get it? Or is it chat? And it only does it to me that that sim. I went to another sim and it didn't, so I don't think it is UUID based. I did notice that when I am not moving, it doesn't send anything out. But as soon as I take a single step...... ugh. White text is chat coming from an avatar.
Green text is chat coming from a script. This spam appears to be being generated by an object with the name "Neuro Killer". What you need to do, is figure out who owns this object, then ban the owner from your land. Banning the owner of the object will automatically mute it for all of your visitors - neutralizing the problems. There is an LSL Scripting function called llSensor() which can help you locate the object. If you have a friend that is somewhat familiar with LSL Scripting, they can whip you up a quick script that will help you locate who the true owner of this spam object is. I believe you an open your chat history and find the name of the object that is sending you the chat and use the pull down menu in that window to select and mute the object or person.

Objects/scripts can communicate via Chat or IM. Chat has a distance restriction of 100m (for Shout). If you're hearing it the same whether you're at 0m or 500m, more than likely its using IM. (IMs from objects/scripts don't show up in your IM window - hence the confusion). If its an IM, more than likely someone has used llSensor to lock onto the name of anyone who passes by, and continuously send them IMs like this. Unfortunately, IMs can be sent from anywhere on the grid - they dont have to neccesarily be in your sim. One idea: Set your IMs to go to 'email', and log off. Then check your email. IMs from objects that get sent to email will contain the owner & location of where the object is. This may be useful for your abuse report, which you should file - even if you're able to mute the object. _____________________

Kira, my land is in Ballyboo too.
I think (with the help of Chris Norse and Nika Talaj!) that it is an avatar that flies through wearing a scripted object that IMs any other avatars it finds. It is quite there at present, Kira. Let's hope it stays that way. Princess Ivory _____________________

Yes, I just went in to see if it was still spamming and it is quiet here too. What a mess it was last night. I just zoomed out and looked around with Highlight transparent on and found nothing. I will log in later to see if it is still quiet. Good luck girl

I popped in to help Princess just a bit ago. For now the object seems to be gone. Nothing was showing up on the About land/objects/ Refresh List that didn't belong to her or her husband. The script finder on my Mystitool didn't show anything that was out of place either. While we were in world, she was not getting the messages.

Not sure if this is useful, but I think this is part of the problem:
If you look very carefuly, the object name & message are always seperated by a colon ( : ). The object name isn't Neural Killer. The real object name is: "Neuro KillerWHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING" That's also probably part of how they're able to make the IM so long. 'Neuro Killer' is just on the beginning to cause confusion in finding the real object name. The actual message that's being sent, and spammed, is: "WHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" _____________________
