Different simulator version?

My home sim including the regions surrounding it were restarted and when I came back I had this window pop up with this message -

Region Message
Basic Info

You are entering a region which is a running a different simulator version than your previous region.

Has anyone else seen this before? I certainly haven't.

That's part of the new "Het Grid" where they can run different versions of the SL server on different parts of the grid. So if you move between two regions that are running different versions of SL, you get that warning. It could be due to the rolling restart that's scheduled for today, if you move from a region that was already restarted, to one that hasn't (or vice versa).

FWIW I have seen the message on the beta grid many times lately, when going from Havoc1 regions to havoc4 regions.

I remember them talking about this, but I've yet to see a way to make my sims run an alternate version of the server... is this something only the special "useful" people can do?

At present apart from some possible anomalies left over from the rolling restart, the only sims running a different version of the server code on the main grid will be some Linden only test sims (which are probably restricted access and maybe even hidden).

There is a plan to roll out the Havok4 code to a few public sims on the main grid for testing before rolling widespread. Whether this will be just some mainland/LL owned sims or whether this will include some private sims hasn't yet been announced (probably not even decided). If it does include private sims, how you volunteer (or get selected) hasn't been announced (or even decided).

Eventually, the plan is that private island owners will have a new estate tool whereby you can control what version of the simulator code you are running or select features such as Havok4 early etc.

I got the same message today. The sim I was in shut down and logged me for being inactive. When I came back the sim was down. I teleported to a neighboring sim and when I walked across the border I got the message.

Also yesterday I had some gravity problems. On my plot i could not walk or fly under control. It was like I was being repelled from the ground where the plot was.

I have noticed some "oddities" with flying as well. Like it is less accurate or something.

A friend and I noticed some "oddities" with objects the other day...

(1) An object that was falling onto a floor being snapped up and down as if it was "being repelled from the ground"
(2) Projectiles being fired in one direction mysteriously warping to a region in the opposite direction
