phantom prims on my rental parcel question

Hello!

sorry if this has been done to death, had a look around, could find no answer.

on my little rental plot, it says that I have 330 prims used. however, counting them carefully reveals I have used only 270. That's more of an error than I could have made by just missing a couple of little things.

So, my question is, how do I find where these phantom prims are being counted from? Maybe I have items that have rezzed at 3000m?

thanks!

Hi Lissie

Probably the easiest way to see all the objects on your land is to go into About Land and click on the Objects tab. Under "Primitives on Parcel", click Show on the appropriate selection to see where all the objects are, and who owns them.

The key here is the category "owned by others"

In About Land, click the Objects tab. Then hit the Refresh button to get a list of who owns what prims.

If you see a bunch owned by a person or persons you don't know, just highlight that entry, and hit Return.

Poof! Those prims go back to their owner's Lost and Found.

Most likely, someone has put a skybox over your land, either by mistake, or deliberately squatting. Or a neighbor's build overlaps your parcel. You can check, physically. Just fly straight up, looking around you as you go, up to 4096m or so. You may find the offender.

Another possibility is that a vehicle or two has crashed and been abandoned on your parcel. The difference is 60 prims, which just happens to be 2x30, and most vehicles are 30 prims each.

After you get rid of the trespassing prims, you can set your land to NOT allow just anyone to rez prims there, to keep the problem from recurring. Or you can set autoreturn on.

Keep in mind that the estate owner may have put out trees, waves, or other landscaping / scenery objects that could be usuing up your prims. Many estates don't care whether you keep or return them but some estates actually have it written into the covenant that you have to keep certain landscaping items.

I also had prims buried deep underground where I moved them by accident once (without even noticing). Took me quite a while to find them, until I figured out how to remove most of the ground mesh from the Advanced menu.

Also, had to have the sim I'm in restated about a year back due to ghosted prims. They were counted against my prim allocation, but there was nothing on the parcel, even after a Linden checked. After the restart the prim count was back to normal.
