Have RL photo's that I would like to sell in SL.
Framed them
checked for sale
checked original
checked modify
checked "Buy Object" from drop down menue
When I left click on photo the buy window shows buy & price
When I right click the pie menu doesn't show buy until I click twice

Is this the right way to sell in SL?

The pie menue also shows take.

Can someone just take my photo without buying it?

I hope someone can help me with this as I am not able to find the info in SL. Asking shop keepers doesn't seem to help.
Thanks

I don't think you want the Buy object part. Also, since it's yours, you will get the Take option. Have a friend try to buy it and see if they can.

Check out the Tory Linden video on setting objects for sale. That will answer all your questions better than anyone else can.

Hi Silena,

If you check "original" then that means the actual framed photo you have on display will be sold. Most likely you want to check "copy" which will leave yours behind and deliver a copy to as many customers would like to purchase it, unless you are selling your work as limited editions.

Your pie menu will look different from customers because you own the object. They will see buy on the first menu, and will not be able to take the item unless you check the box "Allow anyone to copy."

If you have to photo displayed then someone could jsut take a picture of it, and then upload that as a texture, so in that way they could "take" it. I believe some people put a watermark on display photos, and then sell an unmarked copy. I don't sell textures or photos, so I don't really have advice to offer here.

The suggestion to watch the video tutorials is a very good one. THey can be found here:

Good luck with your new venture! :)

I did watch that video by Torley. What I need to know is how to do the rest of the work. How to protect myself & if I set it up right

Check "Next Owner can" and set permissions **

Check "For sale"

List the price

Check sell "Copy"

---------------

Get a friend to buy it to test it ..

Have them tell you what permissions they have to make sure they are right.

If everything is right ...

Done.

---------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

**(a note about permissions)

DO NOW check Both Copy and Transfer at the same time .. this creates a functional "freebie" for all succeeding generations of the object.

I think she was trying to say "DO NOT"
