I'm currently looking for a new laptop, as mine finally let out all of it's magic smoke.
Does the HP 8710w with it's nVidia Quadro 1600m play nice with SL?
What I'm looking for is this: Ideally, it would be a 15.4" WUXGA, but I will settle for a 15.4" WSXGA+ or 17" WUXGA. High amount of processing power and graphics power, I do video DJing as well as video editing and HD video playback. I would prefer a laptop with a Trackpoint style pointing device like the Thinkpads have, I have grown accustomed to it, and not sure if I want to go back to a touchpad. Battery life is not a high priority, as I tend to almost always use it plugged in. And I'd prefer it to have either an nVidia 8600, 8700, or the new 8800 video cards, but I know that severly limits my options...
Anyone have any reccomendations? Thanks, Flip

You might find some existing threads on this sort of thing in the Technical forum, which has been where this sort of thread has generally been placed. There are some technically oriented users that read that forum and don't read this one who won't ever see a post in this forum.
You might be able to find some folks that have posted in the Technical forum and try dropping them a notecard inworld or sending them for forum pm.

There was a recent comparison of all the best gaming laptops out there. The one that won was from The Rock (review here: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/index.cfm?reviewid=1487 ) It has the new 8800M nvidea card in it. I have ordered mine! Rock (no relation)
