This may be a silly question, but I am amazed every day what I find :-) Has anyone developed a way to talk to friends when not in-world but they are?

There are no silly questions Allysa, not if you mean it. I don't have an answer I am afraid but I too would like to know if this is possible :)

Yes. They IM you and you reply by e-mail (the e-mail goes to them as an IM, though you might want to mention that you are not really in world as it can be confusing :) "why did you take me off your friend list? I don't see you on-line anymore . . " "um . . I'm responding via e-mail";). You need to set it up so that IM's go to your e-mail when you are not in world.

There is also something called "sleek" or something like that, but I've never been there. Apparently a text version of SL. Or something. Not sure.

Go to Zonkster.com. It will allow you to send messages in-world. You can't do a regular chat like you can in-world, but if you just want to send someone a message, you can do it that way.

Sleek and the other one ... Ajax .. thingy ..... are basically slimline SL clients. So you'd still be in world.

You can send messages via zonkster. www.zonkster.com

Oh I know what sleek meant before I asked the question. It is just that SL websites seem to put SL before a word. Like SL exchange and the like. So I separated SL from Eek :)

SLusic, though, is the SL music website. don't know where the M went or what SLUSIC might mean otherwise.

One thing I have discovered and word of warning if I don't see the instant message within that day and respond like a day later through email the message won't go through and is often returned.
I think in order to do this you have to enable your im's to mail through forum but I forgot exactly how.
And if SL is being weird you may not always get messages, often I find certain percentage in my junk file.
