I must apologise in advance. This is a partial cross post, but thought I'd see if any long term residents would share their upgrade experiences with me. I recently posted this in Mac Discussions /164/84/181431/1.htmlAs you can see I am leaning towards an iMac, but am still a little concerned about the lack of upgrade options. So with this in mind would like to know (especially from older residents) how many times in your SL history have you felt the need to upgrade your system, before replacing it entirely? Obviously this would be most helpful from other mac users as well, but please let me know your pc history too. I should also forewarn you, I am a Mac user through and through and won't switch even for SL Look forward to your input.

They install bootcamp, Windows XP and ATI drivers for x1600 and never look back. Maybe your better off with a PC with a better video card... would be cheaper IMHO. Also works in Canada.

Finally bit the bullet and upgraded

I ended up with the 20" iMac with 2GB ram and 256mb vram. My local Apple store let me download SL and I was suitable impressed, so I took the plunge and ordered one. Anyway it arrived today and within a couple of hours I had it up and running, online, and with all my email etc set up, and Sl of course. I can't believe the performance difference. As my RL sister-in-law would say... "I'm as giddy as a kipper!". Btw, don't think I'll need to taint this Mac with Bootcamp/Windows XP

Awesome Hope you have a long and great life with your new iMac If only Apple would've upgraded it last month... (Going on ~9 months without any upgrades... Probably waiting for LED)
