How much models in the shops makee money? I want to work as a model, because you don't need to work anything, lol, you just need to be in sl.Anyway,i was visit many shops, and i asked many models how to get a job there, but they only said its a hard time for owners, and that they dont need models. :( Is there anything other what models do,except standing,if they do,i'm gonna lose the interest in that job :)

Some stores actually hire models? Honestly I am a bit suprised that many even answer you.

I thought the vast mayority of them were bots.

I do know some of them use moedels for their boxes, and those I encountered that do so, usually pay a small amount + you can keep the modelled clothing.

If you really wanna try this, I'd say make a notecard presenting yurself. Place a few good pictures in there and drop it on store owners. Do include the big names, you never know.
Worst they can do is say No or decline your NC.

The usual way to get a job as a model is to have a portfolio of photos to display. I would suggest you post a few here of you naked so that shop owners can use their own imagination to assess whether you would look good in their clothes. :p

Most of the store models are either bots or bots of someone else.

They may pay but the actual avatar is just a logged in avatar. Some stores expect 24x7 and pay around L$2 per 10 minutes maybe.

The job generally is... to stand on a pose stand and do nothing...NOTHING...NOT A THING.

Sound exciting enough for you yet?

Customer Service is a different thing though few places have CS representatives in store.

If you think you have to just turn up and be in SL for an hour in a shop and get paid, that will earn you maybe L$12 and not be particularly useful for the store owner who will want someone there for the other 23 hours.

People will say it's not worth it, costs more in electrciity etc but *IF* you have a PC which is always turned on then yes you might earn $30 US a month per avatar and you can run more than one on that PC. If your electricity bill is more than $60 a month then you've got other issues.

Given that 55% of people earn less than $10 a month and 89% less than $100, that $60 from "modelling" no skill required all of a sudden doesn't sound so bad after all.

As you've found, all you have to do is find those openings they are pretty thin on the ground.

depends if you count "keep the clothes afterwards" as earning or not.

Was this an attempt at a Friday thread?

Annnnna, it may come as a surprise, but most people only pay a useful wage or salary to someone who actually does some useful work for them. I know it's a difficult concept to grasp at first.

A "thread" is a series of replies to a question or topic. You asked a question, and so you started a thread.

A "Friday thread" starts with a question that is unintentionally off-the-wall. For some reason, the wackiest of these seem to start on Fridays.

as far as photos for vendors or item display, most creators do their own. It is just easier. You don't need to meet up with anyone, you don't need to call them back if one shot didn't turn out just so, and you don't have to pay anyone.

Sometimes people use models but they are established models which can be a costly venture.

Anna ... I do have a need for real models, not just pose-bots. I produce the vendor boxes for a few places and I always need someone to come to my studio and pose while I grab a few photos of them.

As it has been mentioned, pay is pretty low. What I do requires no more than 15 minutes of your time and you get to keep whatever you're modeling for me. *IF* you're really good and can quickly change clothes to an outfit more suitable to showcase the jewelry, can quickly adjust jewelry to fit properly, can swap out your hair quickly to a different color or style to show off earrings or such ... then you might get paid a little cash.

I get paid to produce the boxes, but I don't get paid a huge amount. But, if you make my life easy, I typically share a portion of my payment ... assuming work has been fairly steady.

Here's what I look for in order to get you something other than just keeping what you're modeling. Let's assume I'm shooting a jewelry set ... necklace, bracelet, and earrings. When you show up, I give you a copy of the jewelry set to Mod/Copy, no-trans. That's yours to keep no matter what. Now, depending on how you're dressed, I may request that you change your top to something more suitable (typically no spaghetti straps or anything that detracts from the jewelry). Since we're shooting earrings, I may ask you to change your hair to a different style which leaves your ears open to view. You will need to be able to quickly change clothes, switch hair, and adjust your jewelry to fit.

If you spend 10 minutes trying to adjust your jewelry and keep asking me, "How does this look now? And now? How about this? Now? Better? Now?" ... you won't be getting a tip.

If you spend 10 minutes digging through your inventory trying on 25 different tops because you don't know what they look like .... you won't be getting a tip.

If you spend 10 minutes digging through your inventory trying on 50 different hairs because you can't remember which ones are which .... you won't be getting a tip.

I firmly believe in sharing the wealth for the good of the SL economy. If you make my life easier, I'm gonna tip you. If you walk in, immediately pop on the pose stand and adjust your jewelry to fit, change to a more suitable top when I ask (or just take it off so it's not a factor in the shot of the neckline .... seriously ... not being perverted), and can quickly pick out a different hair color or style ..... you can be in and out within 10 minutes. Not only that, but since you made my life easy and I didn't have to hold your hand and teach you how to adjust jewelry or wait for you ..... you can expect a little extra bonus for your professionalism. If you want to hang out and talk afterward, that's fine. But during shoot-time ... I'm all about getting it done.

So ... having said all that ... Anna, send me a notecard and a photo. If I like what I see, I'll send you a group invite so you will get the model announcements when I have an open request.

Oh, not only do you keep the jewelry, but I send you a copy of the finished ad as a tear sheet for your portfolio. If I like you, I'll even send you another copy of it without all the extra vendor info ... just your picture ... scaled to the right aspect for a profile photo.
