what could I be doing wrong? I have checked to make sure the 'show in search button' is clicked...(well, ok...it wasn't {embarrased} ) but I did click it on Saturday and my group still is not showing up. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong?

If you're the only person in the group, then get someone else (an alt, even) to join it quickly. Groups with only one member are disbanded by Linden Lab after I think 48 hours. Afraid I can't help you with the problem if you *do* have more than one person in the group though, but someone who probably can help will no doubt be along shortly.

It takes a couple of business days for things to show in Search once you check the checkbox to allow that. it could concievably even take a couple of weeks... Then everyone can see the group in Search.
However, if you are a member of the group, you should still see the group's info in your own Groups tab, in the Communicate window.

Thank you Ceera, that is probably it, I just need to be patient  And kick myself for not clicking that little button back when I set up the group (and yes it does have an alt of mine in it as well as 4 or 5 friends) |

FYI, the same problem exists for personal profiles that are not checked as "show in search". If you change the status either way, it takes several days for the database to realize you did it and add or remove your entry from the web-based search.
