Can an estate owner buy land in his own estate?

A friend of mine recently sold his estate, which included a rental sim with lots of skyboxes on it, the agreement was that all transferable objects were to be included.

After the sale went through they started going to each skybox, one by one, transferring all the transferable objects, which were quite considerable, as the skyboxes were fully furnished.

'I know' said the purchaser to the seller, why don't I set each parcel that each skybox is on for sale, to you, and you put it back up for sale to only me, with all objects included?'

'Great idea' said the seller.

And so it came to pass. The first plot was set to sale for L$0 (only to the named person of course). He then set it back for sale again, but with all transferable objects included.

Now the problem, the estate owner cannot now buy it. He keeps getting an 'Cannot authenticate you' error message.

What is going on? Could it be, that an estate owner cannot buy land for sale within his own estate? If he can, does anyone have any idea why this sale is failing?

Wait an hour, its likely an SL issue.

The method should work. But SL is having major database issues right now.

I can conform that an estate owner can own specific parcels within their estate. My sim owner has a personally owned parcel in his sim.

Also Be *very* wary of doing this if modifiable objects are part of the mix.

There is still a nasty bug where if you sell items with the land, only ownership of the root prim is transferred. any attempt to unlink to modify results in the child prims reverting back to being owned by the previous owner. Coming up on 1 year reported, and still not fixed :(

Many thanks for that tip.

If only LL allowed all transferable objects to be transferred as part of a whole region or estate sale, things would be a whole lot better.
